Things were looking good after the Sox took a 3-0 lead after 1 inning. Paul Konerko conected on his 11th home run and 21st run batted in. However Freddy Garcia came in, in the bottom of the 2nd and gave 2 of the runs back. The Sox had another great opportunity in the 2nd when they had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs but then a grounder to short forced one put runners on the corners 1 out. Beckham hit a sac fly which made the game 4-2. Paul Konerko then lined out to short right. The Sox failed to score past the 2nd inning.
Freddy Garcia put together another sub par performance as he went 6 innings giving up 4 runs, on 5 hits and 2 walks. Matt Thornton was no better as he came in, in the 7th giving up 2 runs on 2 hits.
There were a couple bright spots however for the Sox as Sergio Santos came in for 2/3 innings giving up no runs, his ERA is still 0.00. As I said earlier Paul Konerko connected on his 11th HR and 21st RBI. Tony Pena also came in during the 8th giving up no runs. Gordon Beckham both had 2 hits in 4 plate apperances.
The Sox are now 5 games behind the Twins for 1st and have a record of 9-14.
They look to even up the series tomorrow at 12:05pm CT.
