Chicago hosts Red Bull Midnight Run Tournament Tryouts

100 Hand selected ballers from Chicago competed for eight roster spots.

The Red Bull Midnight Run is quickly becoming one of the more popular basketball tournaments across the country. Last fall, Chicago brought home the title in a showdown against other major cities across the United States.

This year Chicago looks to defend their crown and it all started last Saturday with an inter-city tournament held at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The event featured players ages 21 to 34 battling it out for one of eight spots available on the Chicago team. The event hosted the 100 best players hand picked from the city to compete.

Players included street ballers, overseas players, D-Leaguers, former college standouts and more.

The final eight selected will then travel next fall to defend their title at  Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Chicago provides some of the best talent basketball wise across the country, so winning a spot on the team wasn’t easy.

The event brought attention to many hoops fans across the city and provided entertainment with  quality players participating in the tournament. Players from last years team competed again this year for a spot as the competition grew tougher every game.
