Congratulations Travis Wood on Being Selected to the All-Star Game

The MLB announced the 2013 all-stars today and every club has to have at least one all-star. So, yes the Cubs will be represented. The Cubs lone selection to make the all-star game was starting pitcher Travis Wood. The Cubs have been horrible this year, but you can discount Wood’s strong season. Wood was not just a throw in and he was a well-deserve selection.

Wood leads the majors in quality starts with 16. But hasn’t won since May 30th and has a record of 5-6. Wood has a era of 2.69 with 33 walks and struck out 80 batters in 110.1 innings. That’s why win-losses don’t matter, he’s having a great season.

Wood is now a player the Cubs would want to keep and for him to be in their starting rotation for years to come. Don’t be surprise if Wood and the Cubs hammer down a contract extension in the off-season. Wood is durable as well.

Honorable mention: Kevin Gregg – having a great season as closer for the Cubs, but not enough saves hurts him.

I'm going to JJC to become a police officer, I will get my Associate's degree after this semester. Then next semester I may go to Lewis Unniversity to finish my Bachlor's degree. I write for my beloved Cubs because I like too and it's fun. Go Cubs!
