On the eve of Big Ten Media Day the Northwestern Wildcats have granted a transfer request for linebacker, Eric Wilson. Wilson, a redshirt Freshman from Redford, MI, is now free to transfer anywhere.
Wilson will have to sit out this season if he transfers to an FCS school.
Rivals also had Wilson ranked as the 50th overall safety in the nation. Also, 247Sports ranked Wilson as the 18th overall prospect in Michigan. As a senior in High School, Wilson had 64 tackles as well as four sacks, earning him all-state honors. Wilson was the Thurston High School captain and team MVP his senior year. Wilson also lettered in track and basketball.
Wilson earned three Practice Player of the Week honors last season. Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald said, “We thank Eric for his contributions to the program and wish him nothing but the best in the future.” Wilson’s transfer opens up another scholarship for the already impressive recruiting class of 2014.
