Safety Chris Conte could end up being the Chicago Bears opening day starter Sunday as the team announced he was cleared to play. Conte had suffered a concussion during the teams third preseason game in Seattle and has missed practice since.
Despite a rotation at safety situation floating around, ESPN’s Michael C. Wright expects Conte to start now that he’s been cleared.
Conte missed the first two preseason games after recovering from right shoulder surgery in the offseason. The safety was fighting for a starting spot on the team after a bad season last year, but looks to have regained his spot on the Bears defense.
