The Chicago Blackhawks open up the 2014 preseason at home against the Detroit Red Wings tonight in the first of six games. Today, the Blackhawks cut their roster down to 46 players ahead of their 7:30 p.m. game.
The team announced that Kent Simpson, Ryan Schnell, Justin Holl, Mac Carruth and Zach Miskovic will head to Rockford to start the season with the IceHogs.
With the moves, the ‘Hawks are now at 26 forwards, 16 defensemen and four goaltenders.
