Video: Patrick Kane extends point streak to 26 games

Patrick Kane continues to be special this season. The right-winger extended his point streak to 26 games with an assist in the first quarter on Sunday night.

Kane got the assist off of a power play goal by Duncan Keith as the Blackhawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Vancouver Canucks:

The 26-game point streak is now the longest by an active player in the NHL as Kane passed Sidney Crosby’s streak of 25 in 2011. It’s also the longest in the NHL since Mats Sundin’s streak of 30 during the 1992-1993 NHL season.

There was some doubt that the assist would count however, but CSN’s Tracey Myers tweeted that it would stand due to no change of possession:

The Blackhawks currently hold a lead in the third period at the United Center.
