Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell will be investigated for domestic abuse allegations made via social media according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
During Wednesday’s loss to the Miami Marlins Russell’s girlfried, Melisa Russell, posted on Instagram a photo that accused Russell of cheating on her.
The post went viral and became the talk of social media:
Shortly after, Melisa’s best friend posted a comment on the photo claiming that Russell hit his wife in front of his two kids.

Now the MLB is getting involved as a Cubs official told the news to the Sun-Times but did not offer any comment at the time. The two have been married since June of 2016 and have a child together.
The Cubs have been aware of Russell’s problems for at least few weeks now according to a source close to ChiCitySports. Russell did not play in Wednesday’s game against the Marlins.
