Oklahoma City star Russell Westbrook is averaging a triple-double in the first few months of the 2018-19 NBA season and is one of the most exciting players in the league. During Summer of 2017, Westbrook joined Jordan Brand and was rewarded with his own signature shoe.
The Why Not Zer0.1 made its debut in January of 2018 and was an instant hit. Now a year later, his second signature shoe is set to hit shelves and it should be another successful release for Jordan Brand.
With the calendar flipping to 2019, Jordan Brand wasted no time unveiling the Why Not Zer0.2, doing so by surprising kids at Jumpman L.A. in a special guest appearance. Westbrook showed off the shoe at the Jordan Brand location while the lucky kids in attendance had the chance to try them on.
The Why Not Zer0.2 is designed specifically for Westbrook’s style of play with input from the former MVP. It’s stylish, comfortable and reasonably priced.
“From the first design meeting we had, my number one priority was making the best performance basketball shoe possible. I knew that if it was authentic to me then it would come out great,” Westbrook said. “That’s what the Why Not? mentality is all about: Doing you regardless of what people think and being confident in who you are.”
While the shoe is for Westbrook’s game, the debut colorway has a special meaning for the guard. Dubbed “Future History”, the colorway helps honor his late best friend, Khelcey Barrs III, with a black block on the midsole.
Westbrook has written KB III on his game shoes and now he can honor her even more with this new colorway. A family crest is also on the inner tongue to pay homage to the Westbrook family.
The shoe is set to release on January 10th with a price tag of $130 and will be available in men’s, women’s and kid’s sizes.
