The 2020-21 NHL Season is set to get started in just a few weeks but already the Chicago Blackhawks received some bad news regarding a key player on their roster. After suffering an injury at the World Junior Championships for Team Canada, Kirby Dach will miss 4-5 months.

The team announced on Monday that Dach successfully underwent surgery on his wrist and will miss most of the regular season:

MEDICAL UPDATE: Kirby Dach underwent successful surgery in Chicago to repair a right wrist fracture he sustained at the World Junior Championships.

Team physician Dr. Michael Terry expects Kirby to return to hockey-related activities in approximately 4-5 months. #Blackhawks pic.twitter.com/otd62QfEP3

The 19-year-old Dach will turn 20 next week and fractured his wrist last week while being the team captain for Team Canada. He’s coming off a 2019-20 season with the Blackhawks in which he tallied 23 points with 8 goals and 15 assists in 64 total games.

Dach has developed into a future first liner already in just one season with the Blackhawks, after the organization took him No. 3 overall in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Make sure to check out our Blackhawks forum for the latest on the team.
