The Chicago Bears are reportedly looking to move on from backup quarterback Nick Foles this offseason.
After failing to trade him last offseason, the Bears have been shopping Foles according to a report from the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo on Friday morning. The report comes hours after Trevor Siemian was signed to a two-year deal to likely serve as the backup to Justin Fields.
The #Bears have explored trades for Nick Foles. With the addition of Siemian, expect that to continue, as the writing is on the wall for Foles, who has $1m of his base salary guaranteed in addition to the $4m roster bonus Chicago just paid him this month. https://t.co/IFVJ90HjR1

With four quarterbacks on the roster, including Ryan Willis, it makes sense for Chicago to try and shop Foles now. However, it’s unlikley they get any big draft compensation and might have to settle for a seventh round pick or potentially add a player or pick in the deal to get more.
Foles served as the teams third string quarterback a year ago behind Fields and Dalton but did start one game as he beat Seattle on December 26th. The Bears attempted to shop him last year to no avail and now giving up a draft pick and signing him to a big deal looks even worse now.
