Bears QB Jay Cutler doing something special this season under Adam Gase

The biggest knock on Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been the turnovers.

In 2014 Cutler turned the ball over a whopping 24 times as the Bears offense struggled under Marc Trestman. Now in 2015, under head coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Adam Gase, it’s been a different case for Cutler.

More Cutler: He's had five games this season with a quarterback rating of 100+. Last time he did that was 2010 when he had 6. #Bears

After turning in a 20-for-27, 157 yard and no turnover performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Cutler remains the only quarterback (minimum of 10 starts) to not have a multi-INT game in the NFL. His one touchdown pass also gave him 18 on the season compared to just 8 interceptions on the season. He also has the chance to finish the season with a TD:INT ration of 2:1, something he’s never done before.

Cutler is in the middle of a career and Bears franchise streak:

Having Gase run the Bears offense has really helped Cutler this season and it was evident in Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers. The gameplan called for short passes, runs and controlling the clock. The Bears did all of that, even with the short passing game wasn’t working early on.

But they stuck to it and turned Cutler into a game-manager. There’s nothing wrong with that either as the quarterback has proved he can play in this type of offense. So as the season winds down, Bears fans can get one more look next Sunday at the quarterback that still should be running this offense in 2016.
