Bulls Pedal To Metal in Motor City

Dennis Rodman was in attendance for his not-s-April-fools honoring, from both the Detroit Pistons and the Basketball Hall Of Fame. During his #10 going to the rafters, the Worm choked up and said the right things in an emotional moment for Rodman fans. He also announced that he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Dennis broke the story, because he was the first notified.

Joakim Noah missed his second straight game with a sprained ankle.

The Bulls started the game playing luke-warm on both sides of the floor. After blowing every small lead, and being tied 21 all with 1:34 left in the quarter, Derrick Rose exploded by making plays on both sides of the ball in the quarter. He was on pace to record a quad-double with 0 turnovers. The Bulls lead 31-21 after one.

Thibs threw the bench out there for a good portion of the 2nd. The Bulls coasted, and kept pace with Detroit, building their lead to 11 at the half.

In light of honors for Rodman, the ceremony extended halftime to nearly an hour and gave warm players enough time to cool off. The emotional event also sparked Detroit to close the game out hard. The Pistons outscored the Bulls in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Hot Sauce was cold tonight, Kurt Thomas actually played better in the 2nd half, and Carlos Boozer showed us that we don’t need to worry about his production.

In short, this was an ugly refereed game for both teams that was highlighted by 2 minutes of Rose’s play, and overlooked by the Rodman ceremony. The Bulls win 101-96.

The Bulls face Toronto at home Saturday night. 7 games remain.

Both Boston and San Antonio lost tonight, helping the Bulls Keep up in the East, and close in on the overall best record.
