The Chicago Bears are a mess, after three-straight losses they’re now just 3-4 this season and they find themselves last in the NFC North, 3.5 games behind the Packers. A bookmaker review can help you find the best betting sites online and all of them position the Bears under the Patriots, Saints, Packers, Ravens, Cowboys, Chiefs, Rams, Vikings, Seahawks, Colts, Eagles, Texans, Chargers, Steelers, Bills, Panthers, Lions and Jaguars in the list of teams favored to win Super Bowl LIV.

The Bears won the NFC North last year after going 12-4. This season they already matched that loss total. What is wrong with them? A lot of things have gone wrong but I won’t sugar coat it, the Bears have the worst quarterback in the division.

Chicago moved up one spot in the 2017 NFL Draft to select Mitchell Trubisky first among a pool of prospects that included Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes… and he has not delivered this year.

Before Sunday’s disappointing 17-16 loss against the Chargers, Bears General Manager Ryan Pace talked to flagship radio station WBBM 780 about Trubisky: “Matt (Nagy) said it all week — Mitch has got to play better,” Pace said. “Mitch knows that. But there’s a lot of areas on offense that we want to play better in. It’s not just the quarterback.”

It’s not just the quarterback, that’s true, Trubisky’s struggles go beyond his play and the offense as a whole hasn’t been able to execute. While the offensive line, running backs and wide receivers are also responsible, this is a quarterback league and the guy under center is clearly struggling, which is why he has been getting the most negative attention.

Trubisky completed 23 of 35 passes for 253 yards with no touchdowns and one interception against the Chargers… you won’t win many games like that. Mitchell Trubisky and the entire offense had a great opportunity to get back on track against a Chargers team with a struggling defense that was without two starters on the defensive line and they didn’t deliver.

Trubisky couldn’t begin turning the corner on Sunday and now he will travel down a dead-end street. Sometimes the numbers lie, the Bears had 26 first downs while the Chargers had 11, they were 5-for-14 in third-down efficiency while the Chargers were just 2-for-10, they were 1-for-1 in fourth-down efficiency while the Chargers were 0-for-0.

The Bears had 388 total yards while the Chargers had just 231, they had 226 passing yards against 195 from the Chargers, they had 162 rushing yards against just 36 from the Chargers and they had 77 total plays while the Chargers had just 42, they completed 23 of 35 passes while the Chargers were just 19-for-29, they had 38 carries against 12 from the Chargers, were 5/42 in penalties while the Chargers were 8/53 and they dominated the time of possession 38:00 to 22:00 but in the end all that matters in sports is getting wins and the Bears didn’t get the job done on Sunday.

What’s next for the Bears? After losses against the Raiders, Saints, and Chargers, the Bears now visit the Eagles next Sunday and once again the quarterback matchup favors the opponent. The Eagles had lost back-to-back games against the Vikings and Cowboys but they bounced back in a big way, beating the Bills 31-13 on the road and now they host the Bears in a pivotal game for both teams.

The Eagles need to keep winning, especially at home so they can put pressure on the Cowboys in the NFC East and sadly I can’t see Mitchell Trubisky being able to keep up with Carson Wentz. Once again, the Bears will need their defense to step up and win the game for them. Keeping the score close enough so a win can be attainable is the only way I can see them beating the Eagles. It’s a must-win spot for both teams so it should be an intense battle in Philadelphia.
