I hear you, I'm going to attempt a dry ice batch in a month or two for sentimental reasons. Miss the old days of sticking a pin through an album cover, setting a small chunk of hash on pin, light it and place a glass over the top and watch it fill with goodness.
My ice hash attempts failed miserably. I have not tried the dry ice method.

Well, damn, you are light years further advanced in this realm than me, does not bode well.

The "magic" pizzas are always plain cheese. Veggies may be all right, but not sure how the fat from the sausage will play into the THC dosage. For maximum THC pleasure...I have found you want to put as little on top of that heavily medicated crust as possible.

This also works into the idea that if I could go commerical...I don't have to stock toppings. Just sauce and cheese.

Just plan pizza...I like to do Italian Beef with green peppers. It's more Chicago than anything deep dish IMO.

Follow this except don't add it to the coconut oil, ANd don't do it in the sun. Was black and sticky as hell. Looked exactly like hash.

Well I watched a dozen you tube videos which basically just confused me even more. I took an ounce of older WW i had and used 99% alcohol on it. mashed it around a bit and then strained it into a large baking dish. Because I am to chicken to try and burn off alcohol on my gas stove I set it out in the sun and waited for it to evap. Once evaperated I had a dark brown residue on the dish. I scraped that out and then I heated a cup of coconut oil and mixed them together until they blended. Mine just came out wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy darker than the oils you see at the dispensaries.

The 100 mg cheeba chews are where it's at.

Try eating 40% of that bar in one sitting, which is the equivalent of 2 slices of the Vu-pizza. Most people would nod off and still wake up baked from the 40mg of THC.

So now, cause i don't want da black lung, I tossed my vape pen w/cartridge.

I bought the Firefly 2+ and a Santa Cruz Shredder, gonna only burn my home-grown organic flower.

@TBD - do you approve of this process change?

Yes. Looks like a nice vape. I have the Storz and Bickel Mighty Vape I bought the wife before she told me she only likes edibles now so that is what I use.

Have your plants begun their fall smell? When I saw the pic of your plants I was like.....whew...he might be hiding them now but when the really get into flour the whole neighborhood is either going to know you are growing or raising skunks. I am about 2 weeks from harvest on my mama mia and my neighbor told me to hurry up and cut them cause his daughters keep wanting to go find the dead animal.....lol

my record is about 750mg's...out cold for 10 hours within 45 minutes.

my record for remaining conscious for 6-8 hours afterwards(which I usually prefer to do to monitor my heart at those levels...about 450-550 mg's (dripping straight "Hummingbird Sap" on 350mg brownie")

Trust me, the will power to stay awake on 400+ mg for 8 hours is legendary no matter your experience. I only count records from baseline, meaning I can't have been smoking and bingeing and eating other edibles for a few days or a week so my tolerance isn't the reason.

As for set-ups, I still look look for Ceramic heating coils. You don't want to be heating metals up to those temperatures and then inhaling(especially aluminum). With a device like that as with the pens, I worry about how much plastic and metals are getting near the heat but I didn't look too deep at Firefly.

Vapor Brothers makes a ceramic coil box.

And, you will notice if you vape alot...like there is a little bit of roughness or soreness in your throat that makes me nervous. The particles you create and inhale are so small I am not sure the body is ready for that experience. For extreme caution the bag method at least cools down the "vapor" air before you take it in your body.

If you can find an Arizer or Volcano these days with ceramic heating element I do not know.

there is also an amazing device that is all glass. That uses a standard lighter to heat up...so its like a glass pipe, only the chamber doesn't burn it gets heated up to vape temps. This takes a little user skill but is a clean portable way to vape on the go.

maybe search "glass vapor pipe"

Put it this way, my wife left her car out in our driveway in the area nearest the gardens yesterday for a couple hours with a window open.

When she picked my kid up from high school yesterday she was asked who had been smoking pot in the car. My yard is dank as hell right now, crazy skunky. And I love it.

I had a large sid ebranch fall off one of the plants so i trimmed it down and hung it to cure/dry.

Meant to ask you TBD: I am planning on using a walk-in wine vault as my curing room, is there anything I should worry about or otherwise consider during the 3-week cure?

45-55 percent humidity is best for the drying period. They should be kept in a room that is dark as possible. I hang mine on coathangers across a string in my shed. Anywhere between 5 and 7 days when you can "snap" a stem is when they are ready to go in mason jars to be cured. Not when the stem just bends. Unless you want to sit and burp 3 or 4 pounds (from the look of your plants in your pics) I would buy these Boveda packs. Make sure and get bothway control. They are pretty cheap on Ebay.....not Amazon.

2984

Put one in each jar and just let them control the humidity. 62 percent was designed specifically for pot by this company.
Note: If your pot is to wet or to dry these can not draw the humidity up or down more than 10 degrees. If to dry add a leaf of lettuce for a few hours and if to wet put in a paper bag for a few yours. I also use these humidity gauges (pretty cheap on Amazon) in a bunch of jars to make sure the humidor packs are doing their thing.

2985

Some folks enjoy burping their jars a couple of times a day for the first 2 weeks and then twice a week for 2 weeks. 4 weeks is a good cure. I am just to lazy to burp 40 jars twice a day so I use the Boveda packs.

I just purchased:
* 20-pack of Boveda 2-way 62%
* 24x Bell Mason Jars (glass)
* plastic covers for the Jars
* a 4-pack of min hygrometers

Got my nitrile gloves, fiskars trimming scissors, and trays ready to go. Next week I will begin observing the trichomes with the 60x jeweler's loupe.

What else do i need?

You sound all set. But from the picture I saw of your plants you are going to need double of that:) They looked about 5 to 6 feet tall and very bushy. Do you have any other pics? Next grow you can trim the small stuff away at the bottom of the plants so all the energy is focused on the main colas but you don't want to do that during flowering. I will post a pic to show what I mean later. They are called popcorn buds and most people use them for edibles. Do not throw away any of your sugar leaves(very small leaves coated in trichomes) They are great for edibles. And folks even use the stems and bigger leaves to make tea. Waste not....want not.

Are the mason jars the wide mouth? Doesn't really matter just easier to deal with. What are the plastic covers for?

Edit: What strains are you growing again? I looked and can't find it. Depending on the strain harvest could be anywhere from early Oct to 2 weeks into November. When you are checking your trichomes make sure you are looking at the bud and not a sugar leaf. Trichs on the sugar leaves turn amber quicker than on the buds.

No clear bulbs
Milky bulbs
5-10 percent amber= trim time.

And don't lose your patience while trimming like my son does. It becomes very boring very quick. He tosses all his popcorn buds and sugar leafs out and then comes asking me for pot cause he is out.

You are correct, I have 6 plants each around 6 feet high but I did not top them well and they are not as wide/bushy as they could be. I do, however, have a significant number of beautiful looking 10" buds.

The strains are: Royal Bubba Maui (I think that's a hybrid of OG Kush and Maui Wowie), Amherst Sour Diesel, and Mordor.
The Mordor appears furthest along, nearly all the leaves (other than the sugar leaves on the buds) have shriveled and dropped or will be dropping any day.

The mason jars are not wide mouthed, and are you saying i need more than 24 of the quarts and/or more than a 20-pack of the boveda 62%?

Also, curious what to do with the sugar leaves at trimming - do they also need to be jarred and cured? how long? how to convert sugar leaves to edibles?

Thanks, TBD, your subject-matter expertise and willingness to share info is impressive and appreciated.

I also grew 6 plants last year and I topped them twice. I just counted my mason jars and i have 80 mason jars which were full with 6 plants. You are going to be amazed how quickly the jars fill up once you start filling them. You don't want to fill them over 3/4 full because of the chance of mold and the need to shake them so the buds do not cling to each other. Out of 6 plants I had last year I harvested around 5-6 pounds of pot. Outside yield is almost always larger than inside. Then again I made sure not to throw away things like popcorn buds. Those along with the sugar leaves trimmed also went into jars and were cured the same as your big buds. They are just as potent as buds when used in the making of butter, oils, etc.

Sour Diesel Harvest in late October
Mordor harvest in early to middle October
OG Kush Early October.

These are only recommendations. You need your 60x microscope and check the trichs on your buds...not leaves to be sure. Trich heads should all be milky white with no clear and about 5 to 10 percent amber. The more the trichs turn amber the more the "couch potato" effect becomes. I actually grew a White Widow last year specifically for the CBD (all amber trichs) but unfortunately it got spider mites and had to be destroyed.

Take some pics of your buds. I wanna see.:) And your jars are fine. I just find it easier to deal with the wide mouth jars when actually adding or removing the product. Another thing I do is I put a piece of Scotch tape on the lid and label it with the strain and the date it was jarred up. That way if you have a favorite strain you can hold it back to smoke while using the others for edibles. Plus when sharing with friends you know what strain you are sharing. I had some friends last year grow three different strains and they have no idea what strain they are smoking because they did not label anything.

Edit: Here is a good site to get an idea of how much yield you can expect from each variety. They also have excellent seeds.

Thanks, TBD - I will take some pics over the next couple days and post them. Will also order additional quart jars.

I have little to no faith in my ability to detect clear vs milky trichome tops even with magnification, so I'm going to rely on spotting the amber hue.

And thanks for the link, October is going to be awesome!
