Wife and I were talking about the economy today and were amazed to find out that 4 out of 5 workers today live paycheck to paycheck. Because my wife is very good with money we have always had a 6 month cash reserve. How about you?

I made the poll so your names can not be seen.

We at least have the same as you. We're both very good with our money.

How will I harshly judge posters now?

Right now about 10 months. I'm pretty risk averse.

I have like 1-2 months in actual cash which could be stretched far if I leveraged my credit.

But I consider my personal investments (non-401k, non-IRA) as backup as well.

If I were forced to pull those out and turn them into cash, I could survive 8-12 months.

If we're talking just cash, then we have around what you have saved. We're still fairly young though and have been aggressively investing saved money, that number goes up if you count easy to liquidate assets.

I could self-sustain without any money if need be, well if it weren't for property taxes.

But yeah, yeah, the traditional sense I've been able to retire a few years ago. I'm hyperactive, like what I do and love running a business, so I don't really fall for that dream of doing nothing. But that doesn't make me so uber wealthy I could lease Audis every 3 years. That requires world class negotiation skills.

Yup, as the F&I manager on the Audi forum said that I am a negotiating genius

If I never had an additional penny come in from any investment, pension and social security, my wife and I could live a couple lifetimes.

This pandemic changes nothing for me financially

I'm still funding my granddaughter's 529 college account and sending a few grand to my daughter every month. Leasing whatever cars we want and doing some renovations on the house

I’m surprised your selfish ass thinks of others like your daughter and granddaughter. But, I’ll bet, if you have anything close to what you say, you probably hold it over their heads and make them feel like absolute garbage for mooching off you.

I'm good, before I got serious, I was week to week which is total suckage.
Yup, agreed. I was probably week to week until 4ish years out of college. Income has risen steadily which helps.

I also live a very modest life. Simple car and a nice but relatively cheap house. I don’t believe in keeping up with the Jones. It’s rather stupid imo. I’d rather invest my money and spend the rest on travel/experiences.

I bought a new vehicle in 06 that needs an expensive repair. I'm hearing there's a glut of cars on the market right now so I may look into upgrading into a late model.

Stupid assumption on your part. I paid for my daughter's private HS and private college, then her wedding and financially supported her everytime her job was contracted. Paid for her new dishwashers and townhouse AC. Gave her airline tickets for her honeymoon and airlines tickets for my granddaughters robotics competition in Silicon Valley. Thats what good parents do that can affor it

Sure bro, you’re the type that wants them dependent on you and sucking at the hind tit, so you get what you want out of your precious selfish life from them. It’s probably why they stick around and deal with your BS. You say you give, but in the end you telling us about it, it’s all about you all the time. That’s what you’ve shown us for years around here and that’s your MO.

If this “giving” is remotely true, which I highly doubt after reading and watching your countless fuck ups around here.
