As much as I like Roquan. In a heartbeat, I make this trade
No. I'd give Mack before Smith. Also, don't think Houston has as much leverage as being perceived. Watson has all the leverage. He decides where he will or won't go. He decides if he simply will not play for Texans at all so they have to move him to a team he approves of.

They don't want Eddie's contract. Bilal Nichols could be sent too

Bears would be on the hook for the bonuses so his contract isn't as bad with someone else as it would be with Chicago.

Plus I think people running the Texans aren't that good at their job anyway

I think they'd love Mack based on his name alone. I dont see it happening but one can dream

Yeah, I dont think any contract is unmoveable. Goff trade proved that

Doesn't Mack have a no trade clause though?

Maybe the Bears could eek out an average LB on the Texans defense just for depth with a chance to start?
Giving up that much and getting 1 player in return seems much.....if it were Mahomes.
I would include Eddie Jackson and another player.
2021 first and 4th
2022 second and third
2023 second and third...... if it’s just Watson

Wonder if we worked it to where we also take JJ Watt in a trade with D.Watson if it would make our offer more intriguing to Houston? I'm pretty sure they would love to get out of the Watt contract as well and Watt wants out and his wife plays for the Chicago Soccer team and Watt and Watson respect the hell out of each other.

Bring in the Watts....that's JJ Watt and D.Watson for all you dummies.

Here is the package:

1. This year's 1st
2. Next year's 1st
3. This year's 2nd
4. 2023 2nd
5. 2023 3rd
6. Roquan Smith
7. Jaylon Johnson
's
Fair enough. I d prefer next year's 2nd instead of this year's though...but we haven't got the upper hand, anyway.

The bears would sort of ride out the 1-2 years left of Rodgers in the division while retooling without being terrible. In a random weak nfc year they could still be a wc team perhaps. Gb could come back to earth a bit. Then when he's gone bears would be well positioned dominate the division for several years.

I'd be all for that plan. And if there's anything pace has an aptitude for it's building a d and drafting mid to late rounds. Plus the deal would probably have a late pick or two coming back

Honestly, Roquan is a good player but you don't bat an eye at losing him for a young franchise QB. I would rather protect JJ and make anyone else on the D available.

QB, LT, CB, and edge rusher need to be valued. Every other position should be looked at as replaceable. I think Ejax makes a lot of sense, as there may have to be some contract swaps to make this work.
