Fans have been calling him a one year wonder all season.

" I really wish someone had poached him last year. You saw how ineffective he was in the playoffs last year and now the whole league has figured him out and he's shown zero ability to improve.

Allen wasn't the one year wonder, Daboll was."

" Irony is I was expecting him to leave for a HC job but I don't think he will get one now. "

I keep going back to what Michael Lombardi keeps saying about a lot of these "gurus" who people want for head coaches - he says when he looks at most of these guys, there's no "ru" (roux) in the guru for a lot of them.

Meaning, a lot of them love their fancy plays, but in terms of coaching, they don't have the base ingredients to make them football-sound and allow them to make smart football decisions beyond play calling.

Just hire McDaniels, give him control, let him pick his GM.

It will never happen because brass will never give him that much control. But what the hell, the Bears are so poorly run and have been for decades - we have nothing to lose.

Outside of the Chiefs, Packers and Patriots, which team’s fans don’t complain about their offensive coordinator? Honest question. I’m not vouching for daboll, but it’s not like the Patriots lit up the scoreboard yesterday either. Hell the bills would have won that game if the wind didn’t make diggs lose sight of that deep ball. That was a great playcall too
Hmmm maybe the Cowboys

So in essence he'd be his own GM.

How did that work out for him in Denver? I feel that if he had a GM over him who hired him (other than Pace of course) he'd probably have a better chance at succeeding. I do think what you suggested will be what it takes for him to take a HC job outside of New England, though. Otherwise he would've left for Indy.

If he wants full autonomy regarding personnel decisions- I'd rather pass on him.

This is such a terrible year to be in the hunt for head coaches. Usually there's at least one or two hot names that everyone wants to talk to, but I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out who one of those names would even be at this point.

I'm still in on Greg Roman, but the Ravens offense hasn't looked as explosive as they have been in year's past, which does give me some pause.

Who else besides Roman? I honestly have no idea. Maybe McDaniels? Jim Harbaugh? It feels like a year where there is no hype at all with any of these HC candidates. It really sucks.

Why would anyone want to give McDaniels that kind of power? He's been mediocre when not working directly under Belichik, and he legitimately thought Tim Tebow was going to take the Broncos to the Super Bowl.

People say that there is no good candidates every year because the top candidates had some bad games. It's a stupid take. Everybody has bad games. The job of the gm is to figure out if these guys can make adjustments and if they can lead a team and manage all facets of the game

That’s hilarious since their offense has gotten better each year he has been there

Those teams are packed with talent and make the OC jobs easy. The Bills have too much talent to be struggling.
