BRAXTON JONES vs NICK BOSA

Jones, the fifth round rookie, has been the Cinderella story of the first training camp of the Matt Eberflus Era. Impressing everyone in Lake Forest to the point he has runaway with the starting position to protect his young QB's blindside. Now it's time to prove he is for real in front of his new home crowd. Unfortunately, he first real test is the one man wrecking crew in Nick Bosa. Finishing last season with 15.5 sacks and 21 tackles for a loss and heading into a contract year, no one is going to be more motivated to end the rookie's early success than Bosa. Can Jones hold his own against one of the best pass rushers in the NFL or will Bosa single handley ruin the Bears' chances of opening 2022 with a W?

BEARS' RUSHING ATTACK vs FRED WARNER

The only real bright spot of the final years of the Matt Nagy offense in Chicago was a better commitment to the run. With the defensive minded Eberflus calling the shots, look for that pattern to continue early and often. While the Bears will certainly have their hands full with the Niner's own potent rushing attack, the Bears will absolutely live or die by it with a pretty subpar group of receiving options not named Mooney. That is where All Pro linebacker Warner is most vital. Not only do the Bears sport for formidable running back stable, but Warner will also have to spy on Justin Fields after he torched the Niner defense last season for 107 yards rushing with a TD run in as well. Can the Bears establish the run early on their home field or will Warner force the rookie OC in Chicago into a far more one dimensional attack?

JUSTIN FIELDS vs TREY LANCE

Sure they are never going to be on the field at the same time, but coming out of the same draft class last year and both getting their first full offseasons as the starting quarterback of their respective teams. Plus both teams used a total of five first round picks, one third round pick and two fourth round picks to draft these two quarterbacks. Both fanbases are just hoping this is the season those heavy investments pay off. Can Lance show off why Kyle Shannahan used three first round picks on him or will it be Fields making San Francisco questioning if they traded all those picks for the wrong quarterback?

24-20, Bears stun the nfl landscape by knocking off the 9ers.

Deebo is electric, but the bears force a fumble out of him when he is trying to put his move on.

Bears defense keeps big plays to a minimum, the sf run game leaves them in 3rd and 5 plus too often.

The bears get a solid ground game going allowing a few second and short deep shots, and 1 or 2 will connect.

If the bears stay under 30 pass attempts and don't suffer a strip sack, I like the bears chances.

Bears defensive front will struggle to get pressure; rookie DBs will be good but often get picked on and exposed early in the season.

Just hoping Fields can snap his 7 game losing streak. It won't surprise me when Trey Lance walks out there like its cool and puts a bunch of points on the board while our offense struggles.

I have a buddy who is a lifelong 9ers fan, back to the montana/ young era, despite living here.

He made a pretty apt comparison about this 9ers team.
He said he now knows how bears fans felt in the late 2000s. Pretty stout defense, ok running game, but all his hopes are pinned on Samuel making a game breaking play to have any hope at generating offense.

He even went so far as to mention at least the bears had Grossman who could occasionally have some really good games.

I see his point. 9ers are a solid team but several steps from being a sure contender.
Stuck in the same 9 to 7 win purgatory Chicago was.
