He has started 12 games, and it takes mobile QB's longer to develop, not considering outliers like Watson and Mahomes. I think he needs better tackles to get into the passing rhythm he needs. I do think Borom and Jones can develop into decent tackles, but its gonna take some time to see this.

Well, for me there are several categories. Bust is obviously at the lowest end but it's not just franchise QB or bust. A perfect example would be Kirk Cousins. He is not really a franchise QB but he certainly is not a bust.
8 year perennial starter fits franchise QB. Just not a top one. 3 pro Bowls with 2 teams and a completion leader. Was franchise tagged by Washington and never traded away. The Vikes signed him to the 1st fully guaranteed and record deal as a FA the following year. He was later re-signed by the Vikes.

Whether you personally feel he's worthy or not, It's the very definition of a franchise player.

I 'm sold on Jones but not sure how much Borom can improve at this point. Currently serviceable

And they were proven right.
I think i gave him the same leash I am giving Fields. his first season I was not impressed, but chalked it up to rookie then by mid-to-late 2018 the wheels started falling off.

Fields has flashed, Mitch did not.

I guess Trubisky could eventually ceiling out at that as well.

And maybe I am mislabeling it but when I think of a true franchise QB, I am talking about a player that a team can win a Superbowl with. I never thought that way about Cousins. He lays down on the side of the road too often against good teams.

Imagine really believing that there isn't already a massive amount of Bears fans giving up on a QB after 12 games. Some people on this board act like this is their first year of being a Bears fan.
Poll says otherwise.

It's easy to get emotional and reactionary after that shit show in GB, but I'm not ready to give up yet.

I will say that my feeling is it isn't trending towards anything good. To a degree you can deal with a guy that maybe doesn't have the prototypical physical makeup, but if you aren't seeing the field that's big time trouble.

Even Mitch had that 6 TD performance against the Bucs. Just about every QB that is not an absolute colossal bust like maybe Russell and Leaf has flashed at some point.

sorry, flashed as in * elite throws * and not to bring this up because no one wants to hear this, the talent gap between 2018 and 2022 is huge at skills/OL.

The arm talent is absolutely there. I even think the leadership is there which makes two attributes we couldn't use in the same sentence with Cutler. But that said, if he doesn't develop the pocket presence and the skills needed to find open receivers, then it won't matter.

JF had an okay game week one and a horrid one Sun in a brand new offense the entire squad is learning. That's too small a sample size to say yay or nay. Like most I have to see more to at least the midpoint of season to determine.

It is evident that Fields is really putting in the time to get better. How he sticks the ball out near the sidelines like Wilson or how he hides the ball during the playaction like Rodgers shows he is a student of the game. I like his demeanor on the sidelines as well. He doesn't get rattled easily.

It just has to translate and it has not yet.
