    I don't think many here would be satisfied with a 7-8 record. They sure wouldn't if Justin Fields was the QB. Sounds like excuses are already being made and we were told excuses were unaceptable.

    Not true. The Bears were contenders for the next couple of years with a still dominant defense, but lacked a decent QB who could stay healthy and therefore couldn't compete offensively.

    Herbert deserves more love. He's been a very good RB and led the NFL in average yards per carry in 2022.

    I would add Latu as a possible pick if a trade down happens. He is the best pass rusher in the draft and if he's medically cleared, would be a steal after 9. Hopefully one of the the 3 top edges would be there. Another 3rd, or even a 2nd would be a huge bonus.

    I would expect that the Bears would have done an in depth study of Latu's medical status, including talking to multiple doctors and review of his injury and recovery. There are some injuries where the body is even stronger after the operation. On the other hand, if there is a chronic weakness...

    He did play the last two seasons injury free--and excelled. That should count a lot.

    What do you think the homers would be saying about Williams and Daniels if the Bears had the second pick instead of the first and were planning on drafting Daniels?

    Obviously it all depends on whether Williams is as good as advertised. If he is, then the "haul" is forgotten history. If he struggles, then failure to negotiate a haul will be a massive mistake and the end of Poles.

    By prioritizing DBs and DTs in his drafts, Poles made it clear that he wasn't going to support Fields. Now he has done with Williams what he should have done with Fields. He has also bought himself three more years (for Williams to develop) even if Williams has a rocky start.

    If the Bears can find an outstanding pass rusher at 9, then pull the trigger asap. Remember who the MVP of the 85 Bears was? DE Richard Dent. He was a hidden gem and a lower round draft pick. GMs who can find great players in middle and lower rounds are a huge bonus for any team.
