Nothing pisses me off more than a MLB player acting like a high schooler

Know the situation

Emergency starter allows 3 before we bat, and they finish with 3 in ten innings.

Nicely done.

He needs to do that more often and get those assholes out of that fucking shift. Great win tonight, they need to start beating these guys.

Mills did pretty well all things considered.

He started out like shit in Iowa this year. But has been on a nice string of games as of late.

He is 27 but he has lost some time due to injury with the Cubs.

I wouldn't make much of him though. I see it as he excuted the pitches that were called. He has good late ball movement. But he is not blowing guys away. Basically he is a decent guy on a bottom dweller to absorb innings as low cost. But not a option on a contender.

Not a bad game but you can place it as a assist by the game calling that made him better. 1st inning when they were getting in sync is when they ate him up.

Kinda makes me wonder if Martín Maldonado can improve the staff as a whole that Joe might move Wilson to RF.

Mills accually looked like a ML starter. I doubt that plays the same with Caratini.

I think we have seen the few times Contreras has played RF that he is a butcher. That would mean moving Heyward to CF. Those 2 moves are a huge defensive loss

You lose value with Almora at CF also.

I do believe that too many try to make too much of this so called loss of... For a switch.

I see it as you do what it takes to win. That means playing Garcia and guess what 2 run HR. Heyward has played CF and is bringing a 110 wRC+. Almora is bringing a 75. That is not MLB starting quality production. If it wasn't for his glove he wouldn't be a ML quality talent. His main problem is in his approach. He doesn't accept walks. Which means the pitcher has a easy time setting him up to fail with no fear of him not biting the hook.

Contreras is passable as a catcher. His acclaim is his bat and his athletism. Great reactions and arm strength. IMO every day training he becomes a eliete RF.

No, he made an awesome throw, but then ran 200 feet and has arch trouble now. When he comes back he is getting different shoes with arch support insoles in them.
Whoever missed Almoras sliding catch running towards the brick wall (again) yesterday, can google his highlights of his no fear of the bricks compared to Heyward being just plain ok in center field. You lose two places where you have absolute great defense to get a bat in the lineup.

So what if Maldonado catches Darvish and comes in late in games to defend behind the plate when you dont expect to need his bat? I at least hope he is gonna get a shot catching Darvish next time around. Too much Joe feel good first day to realize that we have a day game today with Darvish, but I guess we cant put it past Joe to use the 240 pound catcher after a late night game.

Mills was decent for us last year and looked good again last night. He’s not a long term solution, but I have no issues with him in a spot start.

Maldonado looked great defensively. Blocked a lot of balls that Contreras has no shot at. Framed pitches nicely and overall seemed to give the pitchers a comfort zone. There’s been several times this year Contreras allowed a “wild pitch” with a runner on third that most decent catchers stop. Contreras is bad behind the plate.

I’d be thrilled with Contreras in the outfield and Maldonado starting behind the plate most days. I think Contreras long term position should be LF if he stays a cub because they have a lot of catching depth in the minors now. Schwarber is expendable and Id love to keep Contreras bat in our lineup but not at the expense of his defense behind home plate.

Thought about you when they showed the lady in the late innings with the two page papers saying I am from england and have no idea what is going on.

Haha! I'm a man though :p

What a great way to win a game! However, quite disappointed to see that guy just snatch the ball away from those kids though! Not going to lie, when I see stuff like that it makes me feel uncomfortable...adults (animal instinct?) basically fighting each other to get the ball but hey I'm guessing its just something as fans you have to get accustomed to right?!
