Yeah, Augies is in my neighborhood, but every neighborhood in and around Chicago has a deli that's a better sub option than the mentioned chains.

We've had other discussions about pizza and burger chains, if you live in a small town you may not have an option, maybe the only pizza place is Dominoes, the only Mexican is Taco Bell, the only burger is McDonald's. On another message board a guy said he liked the Arbys gyros, if that was the only gyros for 500 miles, what are you going to do? If you live in Chicagoland and you eating Dominoes pizza, Arbys gyros, or Taco Bell you should stop eating and just die. Exception to the rule Taco Bell at 2AM.

Scottie loves them.

"Stop eating and die" oh man I'm dead...that's funny.

@ursamajor

The guy was hysterical, black guy that lives in North Dakota claims a guy that grew up in Mexico moved here, opened a Mexican restaurant and does all the cooking doesn't make authentic Mexican food. Keep in mind he was never even in the place.

The whole thing started when he offered up some gibberish about the only Mexican places in the suburbs were Taco Bells, I told him I have 3 great authentic Mexican places 15 minutes from my house, that's when he went into his "not authentic" rant about places he's never been.

He was very entertaining, I miss him.

If you gotta pick one of the shitty supersubmarts who you got?
Subway?
Jimmy Johns?
Jersey Mikes?
Quiznos(are they still a thing?)
WaWa?

They are all the same but Mikes is the most expensive. Johns is the most bland. Subway is just the same old boring shit.
I would go WaWa or Quiznos.
I like Firehouse subs better than all of those.

Edit: they have a ton of different hot sauces to try out which is also awesome.

I completely forgot firehouse.
I've only been twice but each time was great.
I walked in and I shit you not every employee in there stopped and said "welcome to Firehouse!" I was crazy confused. People must just be rude as fuck all the time in the DMV because I was taken aback by the outward gesture.
So I order the the sub and they tell me they will bring it to my seat. Again, floored.. These nice ass motherfuckers are Nice!
So finallu this giant ass sub comes out that looks like 2 twelve inchers. And it was fucking delicious.

But I forgot them.
I forgot those nice mother fuckers
I am ashamed.

They do make a pretty good sub, the bread is decent as well.

I've always been a fan of Fontano's Subs. Great sandwiches and pizza slices.

Not a chain, nice neighborhood deli. Legit looking sub.

Have you been?

No, I just looked it up, I'm way out in the burbs, I got my go to sub places out here. I'm in the city 5 or 6 times a year and have other food priorities when I'm down there.

Can you please elaborate on those other food priorities?

Family tradition we always go down town for Christmas, the lights, the tree, shopping, and most importantly this:

http://www.christkindlmarket.com/chicago/

Great food served by real Germans, all kinds of sausage, kraut, potato pancakes, best beer in the world, and for desert honest to god strudel. Warning if you go on the weekend finding a place to sit will be a problem.

768

Other places like Gibsons, a few places around Logan Sq despite fears of violence. Lots of places in River North and Lincoln Park. I have my own BBQ place out here but Smoque is different, we used to go to Taste, but prefer suburban fests to that cluster fuck in Grant Park.

@jooo83's deli looks great but there is no way I'm using up one of my city meals on a sub. I would put Augustinos Italian sub against anybody's and they're 10 minutes away.

I thought of another good sub place: Luke's.
Very good subs and hot peppers.

Everyone is raving about the new chicken sandwich at Popeyes chicken. Some say it’s better than Chick-fil-A. I haven’t been to either places cause I don’t have either near me and I rarely eat fast food but kind of interested with how highly recommended it is

Ultimately what's better, a cold sub or a hot sub?
