I attended a rally held by the players at Soldier Field during the 1987 NFL strike. There were a few players that spoke, including Gary Fencik and Sweetness. Each speaker talked about how they needed our support, and that we fans were an important part of the team. I'll use "we" and "us" because the words of future Hall of Famers means more to me than some loser on a message board.

Sure, fans aren't on the field. But they've been with this organization a lot longer than the current players, and will continue to be with the organization for a loonnggg time after the current players leave.

Not to mention, fans pay for the salaries, the taxes for the stadium, etc.

I don't usually say "we"---I say "the Bears" because that's just my newspaper background kicking in. But if fans want to say "we," I'm not going to tell them how to be fans.
