Game featuring two future Bears starting QBs...Rick Mirer and Shane Matthews!

Funny how Florida could win the SEC and be almost completely devoid of NFL level talent. Matthews and RB Errict Rhett on offense, Brad Culpepper at DT...thats about it. Notre Dame had much better players, TBH.

Notre Dame's DBs are great, and Florida couldn't get away from them. You see all of Spurrier offense staples...draws, delays, fake draws, corner routes. Some of it works, some of it doesn't, but Matthews almost always has a clean pocket and time to throw (even though his accuracy is unimpressive). You can see how Spurrier's offense would continue to dominate when he got better players.

Notre Dame is so much better on offense when they run the ball. They still have Tony Brooks as a reserve RB. Mirer makes a lot of WTF throws. Holtz finally went to the run in the 2nd half, and it paid off.

I remember watching that game with a friend who was a huge Notre Dame fan, and he spent the entire second half yelling "BETTIS UP THE MIDDLE" before every offensive snap.

The 1st quarter of that game is basically what Notre Dame is versus elite teams circa 95-Present Day.
