You always see the big deals almost always passed a year or two after they were signed. Just another Hawk mistake of over valuing the market. I dont think Kane or Toews were going anywhere, so building to 10.5 was the 20/20 hindsight move.

Agreed. Bowman gambled expecting the NHL team salary cap to rise in semi large increments like the NBA has.

Unfortunately the NHL will always be the red headed step child and come last in North American sports behind MLB, NFL and the NBA. Low viewership, fewer sponsors, can't land that big payday network tv deal = salary cap moving up at a snails pace as the cap revolves around league revenue.

They had a great run. Only a handful of teams won 3 cups during the salary cap era. It wasn't going to last forever.

Ian Mitchell being pro ready next year is going to help the blue line out tremendously. I see him as a future captain leading the next core.

When your leading time on ice D man is a 36 year old that has played 14 seasons in the league...that's a huge red flag on the blue line, lol
