So the new Dream Theater album that I have been anticipating comes out today.

I got it Saturday and HOLY SHIT!

I've given it three semi-solid listens (one was at work) and I am pleased.

This album has the wonderful flow of their earlier albums. Unlike the last several, I didn't find myself wanting to skip through ANY of the tracks. I say their best work since maybe Train of Thought (2003), likely better than that one, more varied for sure.

Some really awesome (typical DT) Rudess/Petrucci note for note madman sessions.

This is the DT album I have been waiting for for years.

"Train of Thought" kicked my ass, but that was more of a one off metal album.

"Six Degrees" was great but maybe a bit odd to follow a concept album with a half concept album of 5 "normal" DT songs, then a 42 minute suite.

"Scenes" REALLY kicked my ass. I listened to at least some of that every day for nearly 6 months before my disc got a day or few of rest. But I've always been a sucker for concept albums.

This one really IS much like Images & Words and Awake.

I am fucking stoked about tour!

October 2nd, Rosemont Theatre.

I'll get my ticket but will give it away to IHN member if I get on guest list (depends on a friend).
