I saw some speculation from an "analyst" about Melvin Gordon (who's unhappy with his Chargers contract and threatening to sit out the season unless he receives a new deal) being a good fit for the Bears:

Considering that the Bears don't have a first round pick until 2021, as well as the number of people that will need new contracts in the next couple of years, I have a very hard time imagining how this would even be conceivable, let alone likely. I guess the analysts are looking for clicks in the off-season.

Tangent: Hadn't seen a lot of footage of him, so I watched this video. Man the Browns are a seriously dirty team. Two facemasks on the same play (@ 4:20 )...

Well I do not think there is any disagreement that he would be an amazing fit here, I just can't see how it even happens. He'd have to hit FA and want to come here to begin with for us to have a chance, but if that's the case... Well, isn't KC in the exact same situation?

He'd be a good fit for a lot of really competitive teams. I'd be more shocked we're he to become a Bear than I was for Mack. At least then we had the ammo to pull off a trade.

We don’t have the picks or the cap space to sign him to an extension, it’s just not even remotely in the realm of possibility

I think Patrick Mahomes would be a good fit for the offense. Probability of him getting on the Bears is the same as Melvn Gordon being on the Bears
Can he long snap?

Great idea. I was thinking that having Donald as an end on our team and Bilal as a backup would be nice. We could add Watts and Bosa (both of each) for our OLBs. The Bosas and Watts could "go to the bathroom" after their series and their brothers could then play the next series.

I am sure the chances of getting all of them wouldn't be much worse than getting Gordon. Of course, that Mahomes fellow would be our starting QB and Trubisky could be the reliever where he is best per Kollmann.

Losing teams pay RBs big money.

Zero chance they could afford his demands.

LA is right to not want to pay him. He has been fragile and not at all dependable.
Even in 2017 he was in and out of games despite 16 starts.

Kid has talent but he cannot stay on the field.
For fucks sake, he has 8 100+ rushing yard games in his career- 55 games.
He is not that great as an outlet receiver either.

Thank god the bears cannot afford him

Interesting premise. A talented skill position player would be a good fit?

Sounds almost believable...
