I think it is over for Mitch and that Foles will start the season.

Not a bold prediction since they just declared an open competition.

Pace and Nagy are feeling the heat for their jobs and need a playoff appearance next season. They aren't going to gamble on good vs bad Mitch.

Missing the playoffs last season sealed his fate. There is too much pressure.

My prediction is Bears go 9-7 or 10-6 and Foles puts up a 92 QBR.

There’s no such thing as good mitch. There’s mediocre mitch and painfully bad mitch. The next time he torches a good team with his arm will be the first.

Time to jump off that sinking ship before you drown.

After listening to the conference calls, Pace, Nagy, and Foles all said it's an open competition.

It's an open competition.

I used to think Mitch would start and be on a short leash...and Foles would eventually replace him. I don't think that anymore.

Mitch cannot beat Foles in a fair fight. One guy is a Super Bowl MVP...the other guy is Mitch.

It will be nice to have Mitch next season in case Foles misses some games. But let's be honest...they are not going to resign Mitch and his journey as a career backup will begin next year.

As a trump supporter I see him getting a legit final shot at this and if/when he continues to blow he will be quickly replaced.
Prophesy fulfilled.

Please share this with msadows. He is 100% confident there is no open competition. He doesn’t understand the concept that Pace/Nagys jobs Rey on the QB position

The old saying goes, competition brings out the best in people....

Aaron Rodgers when there was rumors the Packers were going to draft a QB, "they can bring in anyone they want, they won't take my job..."

Mitch "I don't mind holding the clipboard, it's what I do best..."

I originally thought they wanted competition, but when I thought about it that didn't make sense.

They took on a large contract and gave away a draft pick. The writing is on the wall.

The good thing is that Nagy no longer has excuses. It's put up or shut up time for his offense.

Probably.. I kinda felt like this after last season's training camp, when they were still saying they were still "dialing back the offense" for Mitchell. But then I saw the Patrick Mahomes tweet about not being able to read defenses until the middle of last year, so maybe he'll improve some (obviously not to Patrick Mahomes' level).

Mitch is a competitive guy and has a lot of moxy. But then again so does Foles, especially in the playoffs. It will be an interesting pre-season, that's for sure. And I can promise you there will be no shortage of Bears coverage this pre-season. Get ready for an unending stream of stories about the Bears "QB Controversy." Ugh. I hope Nagy and Pace get their canned answers ready because they're going to be asked the same question a million different times a million different ways.

If we fix the Oline, call a better offense, have a TE, and can run the ball then either of these QBs could play well enough to win games. If we don't fix these things, then both will fail. I believe Trubisky will get the nod. I think he started putting it together towards the end last year.

Going into the 2019 season I was expecting Mitch to post rushing yards similar to Cam Newton in his early years. That didn’t happen. Was it Long and Massie’ injuries? Was it Mitch’s injury?

If Pace cannot upgrade the offensive weapons and offensive line on this team it really doesn’t matter who’s at QB.

Does anybody see an issue:

Foles starts
He plays like, Nic Foles, and is either injured or quickly replaceable by mid season
Enter trubisky

Is that a shot in the arm or does dread longer over the rest of the season

Now

Flip it around and mitch starts and Foles replaces him....

Is it dread or a sense of energy and optimism

I predict they both get plenty of playing time and both will show what they have always shown....they both suck. And then we draft another QB in rd 1 next year.
