The Chicago Bears won’t be standing pat with their roster after the season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bills Sunday at Soldier Field.

A roster move is already in the works.

An NFL source told the Tribune the Bears are expected to sign safety Ahmad Dixon off the practice squad of the Minnesota Vikings. Dixon was a seventh-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in May and they made it through final cuts before being placed on waivers Monday. Dixon spent the last four days as a member of the Vikings’ practice squad.

Dixon, who played at Baylor, led the Cowboys in tackles in the preseason opener but was benched for the next game because he was late to a walkthrough during training camp in Oxnard, Calif., according to published reports. He was fined $22,050 for a hit on a defenseless receiver in the third preseason game at Miami. Sources said he was late to a meeting Monday before the Cowboys released him to make room for veteran special teams player C.J. Spillman.
