He's middle road backup IMO. Not starter quality for sure.

Now it is preseason vanilla playcalls, so guys won't be as open, and that patchwork backup OL couldn't block for him or any RB Nagy tossed out there. Whyte consistently had nowhere to go. At all.

CD sure liked to run backwards when things broke down though. A ghost of "Bad Rex" is scary.

Tyrod Taylor on the Chargers, he cost them $11M for two years.
Teddy Bridgewater for the Saints, he cost them, $7.25M for one year.
Chase Daniel 2 year $10M.

I would much rather have Taylor that Daniel, and I know this will piss some people off, but right now Taylor is a better QB than Mitch. I believe Mitch will have a much better career than Taylor, but at this moment...

Chase is okay for a few series. God help us if its for a full game or more. And Brey? Ney That guys sucks. One of the worst QB's I have ever seen...and I'm a Bears fan. Get him out!

He went 1-1 last year as a back up in the regular season. That's the best you can hope for in a back up. A guy who is just good enough to help you scrape together a few wins while your starter heals.

You're also watching him in a completely meaningless game. I'm not a huge fan of Daniel, but I also realize that it could be a lot worse.

i don't know, I think I can hope for better than Chase Daniel

Almost painful to watch Daniel try to move to avoid the rush. And as others have said, Brey is hopeless. Would be unfortunate if a great defense was wasted because the team lacked a decent backup QB---which is exactly what happened after the 85 Bears won the Superbowl and for the next couple of years when McMahon was injured had nobody to fill in and be at least serviceable.

This is the GM's job. Mr Pace, where are you?

What an idiotic thread. Just about all teams are in the same boat as us. How can expect competent backups when there is not even 32 competent starting QB's in the league.

There were a few on here last year who wanted him as the starter after playing good in a preseason game last season.

bunch of friggin meatballs in this group. lol

The Winman is right. There were a bunch of guys clamoring for Daniel to start last preseason. Each poster that was pushing that ridiculous scenario should stop sharing their “knowledge” with the rest of the forum. Daniel looks like a short, middle aged dad stuffed into a football uniform and he plays like one.

Taylor is not even close to what Trubisky is now. Please be sure to pass whatever you’re smoking.

All Chase Danielsss can do is duck his head and eat sacks. I know preseason blah blah blah, but what a frustrating thing to watch. And then Bray missing back to back TD passes.

If you spit the meatball and open your eyes you would have seen who the better QB was last season, it really wasn't even close.

Sorry nut huggers.

Like I said, I expect the dear sweet one to be better than Taylor ever was.

The Bears have 3rd string QB problems. I would say it's a crisis. Tyler Bray sucks ass.

Chase Daniel is fine as a backup for a couple of games, which is what you are looking for in a backup (don't judge these pre-season games as Nagy is just going through the motion with these games). The best backup out there was just signed by the Eagles today (Josh McCown).

Taylor has 473 yards last year. 2 TDs and 2 INTs with a 49% completion percentage. Are you sure you're feeling alright 51?

Taylor played in 4 games last year (3 starts), completed 49% of his passes, 2TD, 2INT, 64 passer rating, and was benched for a guy who put up really good stats and won some games with the same team.

edit: I see Hawk beat me to it.
