He was 69, and died of Lewy Body Dementia.

One of my all time favorites, Buckner was the first guy the Cubs had who seemed to "get it".

Two of my favorite memories involved Buckner.

One was a HR off that dipshit Mad Hungarian. Buckner, with his bad ankle, took a week to get around the bases, while Hrabosky paced around the mound pounding his glove and displaying his other childish antics.

The other was when the Cubs were losing badly in the bottom of the 5th, and the rains came. Buckner was batting with two outs and kept stepping out and delaying, in hopes of a rain delay, and possibly having the game called.
Steve Stone said "Noah could come over the left field wall in the ark, and the ump is not calling this game."

I hated that it was Buckner who had that ill fated play. He may be hated in Boston, but I loved him.

RIP Buck.

Aside from him being a class act I always thought it was weird how they weaved in Buckner to that "Catching Hell" doc on 30 for 30.
