I will watch this hockey game. Last year I was rooting for the playoff push. This year I don't know what I want besides change in management. I think this team being successful would be counterproductive.

On one hand I'm glad Duclair found his own and is doing well for the Sens.

On the other hand, I hope he's not good against us.

If nothing else, it's a good time to see if you a few pieces in place for next season and beyond.

Kubalik is approching 20 rapidly too! Hopefully he doesn't go on extended dry spells in the future!

If he keeps playing with the same energy, he should be fine.

The guy might not be a top 20 center, but I doubt there are 10 centers in the league or 5 responsible for more points in OT or SO over the last 5 years.

Refreshing? Should have won in regulation but I guess we'll take it.

That could have turned ugly after a slip-shod 1st PD but Chicago did as Burish mentioned afterward: played straight-up and downright boring hockey long enough for the stars to shine.

Kubalik was in the right place for the 1st and blazed through the middle for a strong 2nd goal. Giving Toews that much room in OT made his goal a no-doubter as soon as it left his stick. Not an exciting game but fundamentally sound after the 1st and against a struggling team like Ottawa that's all you need to do; let them sink to their level after a quick start.

What Chicago needs is a G.M. like whoever saw Kahun/Kubalik and said "Sign this guy, you won't regret it."

Finding talent in Europe (not the obvious can't-miss Selanne kind) that fits in well on our smaller ice rinks and gives your team a real boost is every bit as difficult than finding gems after the 1st Rd in drafts.

It still gets me that someone would deal away a promising D-man on a team desperately in need of a blue-line makeover, for yet another flashy F. Buffalo's people had to be looking over their shoulders for paper fish during that deal.

They got Panarin too, but to sign him it was incentive laden deal. What were there 2 mil bonus dollars that counted against the cap the first two seasons? When they were able to lock him in at 6 he was too expensive, even though there were no extra dollars in bonus and we could have used him at 6 instead of jettisoning him to get Saad back for the same money.

You just see these multiple hits on great players and it makes it more mind boggling why they cant keep any of them. I always said I see Hossa in Kubalik because of the wicked shot and when he fucks up and turns a puck over, he dogs back after it fiercely trying to get it back. I hope he is here when he puts on 20 pounds.

Wonder where Kubalik is gonna be next year.
