It’s because Manziel and O’Bannon sued NCAA about using their likeness on jerseys, games, etc. If NCAA used their numbers or likeness to sell , NCAA had to pay the NCAA players (students) a piece of the pie. NCAA didn’t want to share the pie, henceforth shelving the NCAA football, basketball video games. Truly a loss.
