Yes or no? I think he absolutely should be, he's basically a lesser version of Marshall Faulk (who was incredible and a lock). I mean the guy has 14,408 yards from scrimmage (9,753 rushing, 4655 receiving), 75 total TDs (54 rushing, 21 receiving), and is easily one of the better dual threat backs that the league has ever seen. He'll probably go over the 10,000 yard rushing mark (he has 1 more year left on his contract) which has been accomplished by less than 30 players in league history.

His 14,408 yards from scrimmage ranks #28 in league history as well. Matt Forte's numbers indicate that he's easily a top 30 running back OAT, so is there any reason for him not to be in the HOF?

But they are going to have to decide on Urlacher and Hester first.

It's been a very long time since a RB with less than 12000 yards rushing made the HOF...

He's not even at 10K

Great running back. But not a HOFer

In a weak year maybe he gets in, but it's doubtful

No.

Forte was a good back, a good teammate and a good person.

None of those things get you in the HOF.

If we let everyone that was simply good for a length of time into the Hall of Fame then it wouldn't be worth getting in.

Forte was one of my favorite Bears of all time, but no, he's not HoF caliber.

Matt Forte has similar production that Warrick Dunn had in his career, and I don't think anyone would really consider Dunn a HOF caliber player.

Hell, Tiki Barker ranks 13th all time in yard from scrimmage, and he's a question mark.

Like others have said, Forte was a great player, but probably not HOF worthy.

Hall of Very Good, unless he inexplicably has an extremely productive last few years.

Not even close as much as it pains me to say. He obviously had HOF talent but shitty team after shitty team gave him little chance.

Never been All-Pro, only 2 Pro Bowls. No memorable season that stands out. One playoff run with zero touchdowns.

Really damn good player but not hall of fame worthy.

Classic "Hall of Very Good". Terrific player, but he doesn't have the accolades. Though I think that's largely a reflection of his role in the team he was on more than his ability.

If he spent his career on a team where he didn't have to carry the offense, I believe he could certainly have had a HoF career.

To substantiate that somewhat, in 2013 and 2014 when the offense had playmakers elsewhere, he rushed for 2,377 yards and had 1,402 receiving yards, and had 22 TDs.

If he had spent his career on a decent offensive team, then to extrapolate that over his 10 year career, you'd be looking at 11,885 rushing, 7,010 rec (18,895 yards) and 110 TDs, which is certainly HoF numbers.

But that wasn't the case, so no.

Doubt it, if Roger Craig isn't, then Forte definitely isn't.

He could have been even more special on a team like the Patriots.
