I just read over on the cubsHQ site that the cubs sent a scout to nationals park yesterday to check out Merrifield and that in the off-season the cubs and giants talked about trading happ, heyward and a prospect for both Watson and Will Smith and wondered what it would take now if they were to entertain that idea again.
I think Zobrist would be rusty as hell for awhile if he came back and who is to say he wouldn’t still
Be bothered by the divorce and that his head and heart wouldn’t be into that much. Zo already was struggling pretty bad this year and Whit has been very good all year, to me he’s a much better and cheaper option than Zobrist plus he’s not a rental
You type like you live in a trailer by a power plant

Yep, pack it up. We are at the all star break and the team is done for completely. They better not make those playoffs. They need the higher draft position. Tremendous

Not sure what the point of your post is. This Cubs team doesn't have the necessary pieces to upset their way to a World Series. Sorry if that hurts your feelings or whatever.

Yep, hope they dont back their way into the playoffs by winning the division. Whatever that means

It means our division sucks ass. Cubs have been playing like shit but so has everyone else. As long as Cubs play like less shit than everyone else in the NL central, they will slide in. That's called backing your way into the playoffs.

Winning the division by default since the whole division is very mediocre and then getting exposed in the first round to a superior team

so are major changes coming? Heard Theo is being proactive with talks. Any idea who won’t be on the roster in the next 3 weeks?

So you are saying if they go out and play 162 game season and win their division, because the division itself doesn’t have other teams with great records that would be the equivalent of backing in?

and it would be worse to win a mediocre division then to lose it ?

Ummm,OK.

I have an idea. Let’s let the season play out before we decide a champ.

What if other division winners play poorly in the postseason?
Would we back our way into the WS?
How awful would that be?

If the cubs are lucky enough to make the playoffs they will not have home field for either round/wild card game and they aren’t good on the road so most
Likely eliminated in the best of 5
Divisional, correction eliminated as the 2nd wild card

Have you heard of the Yankees, Astros, Dodgers, and Braves? Those teams will fucking kill us.
And have you ever heard of teams getting hot or going cold come playoff time...that's why they play the fucking games dipshit.

Perhaps one of them. Not all of them. You think the Cubs will go through the Braves, Dodgers, and then the Astros/Yanks? No chance. They lack the top end pitching to compete with those teams.

If Yu pitches like this for the rest of the season you maybe wrong. He finally broke out his splitter and made the rightes look foolish.

Add Cole who was pitching like an ace pre-injury.

Hendricks who was on a crazy roll pre injury.

You might be wrong here.

The only scenerio that is bothersome is being stuck vs the Nat's and Scherzer. That is facing Jake in 2015.
