I am calling a no hit duel. Both pitchers give up noting for 5 innings, but Darvish is already at 100 and gets pulled.

Javier Baez was not in the starting lineup for the first time this season for Monday's series opener against the Phillies and former Cub Jake Arrieta, a day after the Cubs shortstop bruised his right heel during Sunday's 6-5 win over the Nationals.

Baez injured the foot while rushing in to make a barehanded pickup and throw on a Jeremy Hellickson grounder in the third inning. He was removed in the sixth inning.

Addison Russell made his first start at shortstop this season in place of Baez, who had started all 44 games for the Cubs while hitting .319/.359/.595 with 11 homers and 31 RBIs.

Arrieta vs Darvish!! This one is for all the marbles. I hope they have a friendly $1 on it.

These two are linked, admit it or not, but they both go home happy at night.

And Arrieta pitches out of a base jam as we have seen so many times before. Big game, big moment, big pitch pitcher baby!!

McCutcheon has been awful defensively for a while now.

He made that look much harder than it was.

If Darvish loses this game it's a shame because he's actually pitched pretty well. Both hits the last inning were pretty weak.

Miss the DP by a hair. Walk Harper after 0-2. Seeing eye single by Hoskins, all after we have opportunity after opportunity.

Just one of those nights.

We got our break on the so-called triple, but this has been that proverbial game of inches. (With the exception of Rizzo being thrown out at home by 89 feet, after he runs less than full speed and looks into RF as he is running. WTF?!)
