@truthbedamned - should my buds still smell like wet hay when hung for drying? My guess is the grassy smells are from the chlorophyll which will convert to THC during curing, is that right, or should my wet buds smell like cannabis? Just getting concerned that i don't have another infected batch.

Patience grasshopper. You'll be fine. Will probably need 3 weeks of curing for those colas, and the chlorophyll to break down.

I assume your wine cellar is kept dark?

Give a small bud a pinch, and rub between your fingers. Do you get the smell you desire?

Yes, cellar is dark, and I am very patient - just mega concerned that i have the same rot in the new batch of buds.

Call me paranoid and crazy, but I kind of lose interest in the entire weed-growing and toking game when it involved potential mold, tuberculosis, and a horrible lung death.

I will try the pinch & smell later when i get home from biz.

A hay smell is not indicative of rot. Just chlorophyll, and a not yet properly cured batch.

You were just forced to trash pounds of crop, sounds like you have PTSD. If guys like Mr. O'Clam and TBD are telling you to R-E-L-A-X, trust them.

I agree 1000 percent with Xuder. The hay smell is normal. Xuder can correct me if I am wrong but I believe the aroma is given of by the terpenes in the bud. The terpenes will probably not be giving you much smell until you begin the cure process. As you burp the jars the terpenes are released into the air giving you the aroma. Be aware that according to Boveda using the Boveda packs keeps the terpenes from escaping the pot so you will still have the hay smell when opening the jars. But when you go to smoke some and you pinch the bud open then you will get your aroma. So you may choose not to use the packs at all since you only have about 16 jars to burp 3 times a day if the aroma means that much to you.

Terpenes are very volatile and are offgassing all the time. I don't see how the Boveda packs would stop them from coming off. More likely they absorb them and you smell that when you open it up

I actually referenced a study Boveda had done when people complained their product affected taste and smell. Could be total bullshit. I will try to find it in the morning. I am busy crying in my tea over Hicks going to IR

Wow fellas.

I just spent my entire lunch hour reading the last three weeks of this thread. It was like watching a Netflix drama on Cali Growers. I laughed, I cried, I learned so much and can almost smell all of the pretty, pretty pictures.

With Illinois loosening the reigns...I have been considering a small grow area in our second bedroom. Good to know I don't have to go far for advice when the day comes.

I also am growing hydroponics in a 4x4 tent in my shop if you have any questions.

Exact set-up I was looking to do. Maybe 6x6 with outstanding space planning my part, but hrydro set up for sure.

Will bump when I am ready to start piling materials together, but would love to see a pic of your set up for inspiration.

I used to design the ballasts for those things. Worst job ever.
For Hydro Crunch or just the lighting industry in general?

Sorry it took so long. Was dealing with the last of the harvest and removing all my Boveda packs cause @ruprecht has me freaked out on whether I should use them or not.

Anyway I am using 12 gallon tubs instead of 5 gallon buckets. Just easier to change the water. And they have a lower profile. Every inch is vital. This is what I use to change the water;

Here is my tent setup

I am using 300 GPH pumps...10 bucks each on Amazon. Each container has a pump and aerator. I just bought a 6 line manifold to control the airflow. My fan is a 4 inch adjustable and the tent is just a normal tent. I do regret not buying a tent with a view window. Everything combined I have about a 1000.00 dollars invested.

P.S. If you are going 6x6 I would recommend either 2 315W CMH setups or the 600 Watt. And you definitely want the lamps enclosed with the fan blowing through them because of the heat they give off.

I have never heard of Hydro Crunch, I was designing HID lighting products back in the early 90's, and didn't pay much attention to where they went.
