I think the Titans really crapped in the bed with the retention of Mike Mularkey. I mean whats he done to deserve being the HC. Hell they went 2-7 with this guy

Not sure about . Doug Pederson, Philadelphia Eagles: either.

What they say about Gase is interesting.
"But the results with the Bears often felt over-praised. Cutler's numbers were right in line with his career averages. The Bears' offense literally finished with the same rankings in yards and points as it did under Marc Trestman in 2014, and those rankings weren't in the top 20. "

They haven't worked since 2010

Yeah, you're right. Our D was terrible in 2011 and 2012.

That's just not true. Below is the PBP from the Houston and both Greenbay games from 2012 just for example. Linked the whole schedule with results for your convenience. D worked fine against damn good offenses. WHY do people make stuff up? GB scored 21 including a fake FG in game 1. They scored 21, including a 26 yard drive after an interception in game two. Houston scored 13 and were 7-1 and on fire coming into the game.

The myth about the Lovie D being outdated is completely made up. Carolina runs a ton of his stuff.

I just said don't post results...it's better just to shout out bullshit and hope it sticks. Then have a couple of other posters jump in to help with the bs line to tow.

It's going to be tough to parse that out. It looks like Koetter might have been back as oc anyway. I don't think he was beating out Gase or Chip. For you to be right, Lovie had to have been holding back the team. I would be surprised if that were the case.

It's all so interrelated that we're never going to know how much is coaching. I predict Koetter will be a Mike McCoy,Whisenhunt type who will ride a good QB.

Being an Eagle fan I've been doing a lot of thinking about this exact issue. The problem is that judging these moves is just like evaluating a draft class right after the draft.

Let's take my team as an example. 3 years ago they were about to revolutionize football by hiring Chip Kelly. After year one they had 10 wins and made the playoffs. Seemed like a great move. After year two they had another 10 wins, but ended the season poorly. Finally after this season they regressed and ultimately he got fired. Looking at that same season (where Trestman was hired) there was one coach, who ended up being the last hire and ended up being the most successful coach of the bunch. His name is Bruce Arians.

So if you were to judge the coaching hires at this point in time 3 years ago both Kelly and Trestman might have gotten high marks while Arians might not have been hired yet.

Anyway, I also think back to the best coach in Eagles history being Andy Reid. When he came on board in 1999 he was the QB's coach in GB with only 6 years NFL experience. Add in that he wasn't really a good podium speaker and if there was social media like there is today he might have looked like the worst hire of all time.

As fans we honestly know nothing. The stuff we read only relates to their past experience and what 3rd party people are saying. We have no access to the conversation within the interview, which typically is the largest part of the successful candidate getting the role. After all, if you've ever done hiring did you ever just sort your top 3 resumes and book your top candidate with the expectation to offer the job immediately? No.

I think the article got it right as far as #1 goes. Jackson did ok with a terrible Oakland team and if he hires Horton they'll have good coordinators on both side of the ball. It'll come down to talent but the coaches are their

Hue Jackson is a very good coach, but the Browns will go as their front office and ownership go. If I was Mike Brown I'd have let go of Marvin Lewis and promoted Jackson.

The rest of the hires aren't impessive. But as Pegger said, you never really know.

Gase won't make it as a HC, in my opinion. What the hell is he going to do with Suh, who refused to wear cleats at practices and other dumb shit. He'll pull the Trestman/Ratliff card and ignore it.

D worked best when he had more aggressive DCs that mixed it up working for him. That D was great when it 1st showed up but the league evolves.

How has the league evolved in two years to make the d magically outdated? This is such a logically weak argument. If it worked in 2013, why would it not work now? Carolina uses a lot of the same principles. The only time the D didn't work was when it blatantly lacked talent.

I'll still waiting for someone to show me the good defense that has bad talent. Did Fangio's scheme get figured out this year or was the talent poor? People, including writers think the NFL is about schemes. It's about execution and talent. Seattle and Carolina aren't trying to fool you.
