Can't see any reason why Burton won't be completely healthy for next season. And it's been one injury...although a lingering one. It's not like he's Shaheen-soft, no matter what the "anxiety" trolls say...

Why assume he will be healthy? A 2 month injury has lingered for 8-10 months.

If an offense needs a TE like Kelce to function...it isn't much of an offense, imo....

I don’t think it needs Kelce but it needs at least an average guy. Burton was average last year. This year he was not starting caliber.

Trubisky has looked awful this year, but with bottom 3 in the league tight end play and bottom 3 in the league rushing attack and bad pass blocking, it’s not a shocker. There’s only a few guys in the league that could survive that. Trubisky obviously isn’t one of them.

Hard to trust Burton since he’s got two question marks. His mental state is one, and his physical state is the other.

No, this is Maddon. When a guy doesn't come back from a minor groin procedure and the has a myriad of other issues he will come back healthy next year guaranteed. Just turn the game off and back on.

Dont think anyone is saying TE will be a disaster going forward. Think most are saying it is a disaster now.

There would be less concern if Pace and Nagy showed any skill in making personnel decisions on offense and/or TE but for the most part they have failed in that regard.

If there is any hope it is that they may be due for making a good decision at the position given how poorly things have turned out thus far.

While we aren't deep, I think the lack of offense is more on Nagy than it is Pace.

Pace has equal blame if not more

-He picked the worst of the 3 QBs in the draft
-His OL is average at best
-No talent at TE

Outside of Austin Hooper the free agent class this year does not excite me.

The draft has some nice 2nd round options, but it dries up pretty quickly.

Looks like a 2nd round or bust position.

do you really think Watson would be good here?

he has a better teammate at every position on the field in Houston, a better offense, and a better offensive play caller.

to think Watson would be excelling here with this coach and this team is very presumptuous.

Maybe he would be. But he has better running game, better tight ends, better offensive line, better wide receivers, and in my opinion a better coach and play caller. All those things change and who knows how he develops.

Yes, because he is a better player. Up until this season he did not have better talent around him and was still good.

weren’t they pretty much shut out at home in the playoffs to the Colts until a late touchdown to make it 21-7 final?

As slam dunk as you think putting him in a worse situation in Chicago would be, less than a year ago he was clearly the worst quarterback in the playoffs.

And he had DeAndre Hopkins last year... Trubisky had a hobbled Allen Robinson and some gimmick players.

we could have fundamental disagreements on player growth. I believe Tom Brady is working at Whole Foods right now if the Bears draft him and the Patriots never pick him up after we cut him. You may disagree.

Did I miss where the Texans were an elite QB developing factory?

One bad playoff game, which Mitch had as well, does not change the fact that he was really good last season with no RB, a suspect OL, and a bunch of bums at TE.

The fact you think Mitch played bad in that game in the same way that Watson played bad suggested you are not objective.

Mitch played very well in the second half. Some drops and a missed field goal and the defense choking is why they lost, not Mitch. The Texans lost because Watson didn’t give them a chance to win. Vs a bad defense at home.

Again, look at PFF. Watson has a better ranked teammate that supports at him at literally every position than Mitch does. He also plays inside with no wind in 72 degrees on AstroTurf.

You can pretend it’s a lock he’d be good here all you want. Doesn’t make it a fact. Or reality.

Look at PFF, thr Houston O has better ranked QB supporting them than Trubs.

Kind of odd to pretend it only goes one way.

developing quarterbacks is a thing

the bears have and always will be bad at it because apparently they and we don’t even acknowledge it’s a thing

guess which QB had accuracy question marks when they were drafted. Watson or Trubisky? Wasn’t Trubisky.

What QBs did Houston develop before Watson? You are making excuses. Watson is simply good.
