Small Airplane Lands Without Landing Gear at St. Mary's County Regional Airport

A pilot successfully landed a small plane with defective landing gear at a Maryland airport Monday afternoon.

The plane, a 1966 Piper PA30 twin engine airplane, circled St. Mary's County Regional Airport for more than 90 minutes to burn fuel before the pilot, Anthony James Capozzi, executed the emergency landing on the plane's belly, which Chopper4 captured on camera.
Capozzi, the only person in the plane, could be seen getting out of the plane without issue after it stopped on a runway. He was not injured.


St. Mary's County Fire and Rescue was on hand for the landing.
A crane was used to remove the plane from the runway.
St. Mary's County Regional Airport is a small airport in southern Maryland.

I think Lowell installed the Piper PA30 landing gear release in the Cessna again.
