I'd maybe consider a late round pick on him. A 6th maybe?

That would seem like a desperate move from a flailing team that is not close to looking like the playoff team that they were billed as.

The offenses problems go beyond having another TE on IR.

He might look good in this offense actually. He can run routes so you can get good coaching value out of him too, Shaheen should watch him for the 3 offensive plays before injury. I'd say worth it.

He'll end up in New England & it'll probably be a conditional pick based on Games Played/Health.
Bears should be looking at Cordy Glenn. He's worth a 2nd rounder since they Pace will probably have to spend a 2nd round pick on an OLman anyway

The dude has done fuck all in his entire career. Best year: 13 games, 615 yards, 13 TD (yes, this stat is impressive).

I think a sure handed and physical TE is a better fit. Kind of like what Shaheen was supposed to be.

Need some help run blocking and then a guy who can haul down the catch on playaction.

Get him the hell off the block! He can get hurt up there!!!

Besides, you have the roster cockroach in Bradley Sowell. You are good there.

Seriously, if you are trading for Eifert, why not just sign:

Dwayne Allen- Had some success. Health is an issue, but there's no cost to kick tires.
Jermaine Gresham - At 31 he might be done, but was a decent TE for a couple seasons.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins - He was cut from NE to go battle his demons. Maybe he's dried out and ready to resume his career?
Benjamin Watson - He can't be much worse than he was last season, which wasn't that bad.

Nah, always injured and past his prime. Can't be wasting what little draft picks they have left.

Bears 2020 Draft Picks

1st rd - None
2nd rd - 2 picks
3rd rd - None
4th rd - None (release Mike Davis and they may get a comp pick. To me this must happen.)
5th rd - 2 (that is if Jordan Howard meets the conditiions. Looking like it so far).
6th rd - 1 or 2 (depends on the Howard condition being met. If not Bears have two 6ths and one 5th)
7th rd - 1

Its worth a phone call to see what the price is. I wouldn't break the bank to make it happen. But put in a bid and see where the market is. He's on a one year deal and not making much right now. Its worth a shot and he could probably be had for a late round pick. Also, worth seeing if he has any connection with our QB and be had for a longer term deal.

It's low risk, high reward in my opinion. Its not the solution to our offense, but can be a nice added value piece.
