It is laughable to suggest the Bears have the offense talent of the Chiefs. Trying to emulate them has gone nowhere. Will Nagy live and die by his scheme or will he admit defeat?
Burton is no Kelce, and other than Robinson, the Bears don't have near the receiver depth of the Chiefs. Lets not even talk about QB. Lets throw this KC shit in the garbage and try to complement our defense which is the only side of the ball with real talent.
1). End the spread. Other than Robinson our WRs are mediocre to poor. Why fill the field with scrubs while simultaneously giving no help to our O-line in run blocking at the same time? Even with less numbers in the box, the Bears running game hasn't benefited. Our spread is not dynamic, its not scaring anyone and we can't run for shit out of it.
2). Just let Cohen catch the ball. His 2.4 yards per clip rushing are doing nothing. Nobody is fooled. Put him in the slot.
3). Feature Montgomery in the backfield. He is the best pure runner on team, and in my opinion seems to do well navigating trash and tight spaces. Keep your best rushing threat on the field.
4). Robinson and Gabriel at WR, Cohen in the slot, Montgomery in the backfield along with your TE of choice. Sub Cohen for a 2nd TE in the the occasional double TE set if you want. Try to keep the little talent at offense you have on the field and the few guys that Trubisky has some rapport with on the field.
5). Our TEs are shit right now. They don't get open or block well. They do have reliable hands (Burton and Shaheen) but aren't dynamic. Throwing to them off play action when they made be wide open is the best bet.
6). Playcalling. 15+ carries for Montgomery and 5 targets in the passing game. You wanted a dual threat RB then throw him the fucking ball. 6-7 designed QB keepers. At this point, who really cares if Trubs gets injured? 3-4 deep shots to Robinson just because he is a beast I don't give a fuck if they aren't completed.
If Nagy adopts even half of the above and our offense goes from horrible to just very bad.. hats off to him. At least he is living in the now.
