if the bears can trade down a few spots from 9 and back into the end of the first round so that they can end up with 2 of these 4 guys theyre in bizness: fuaga, murphy, verse, A. mitchell, barton
if there is a QB on the board at 9 that a team (perhaps the raiders) likes then the bears could drop back to 13 and get the 44th pick. in a scenario like that, trading back makes sense.
at 9 or dropping back a few slots, the bears need to be targeting: Fuaga (top OL prospect), Murphy (top interior DL prospect) or Verse (top edge prospect) these are the biggest difference makers available in that range.
Im sure it will come down to the amount of players the bears value left at pick 9 and they will consider trading down accordingly. the guys i like in the 9-18 range are:
Fuaga
Murphy
Verse
Barton
doesnt look like great value considering montgomery got 18 mill over 3 years last off season and is a better back than swift. that said, its probably a 2 year deal for swift with how the contract is structured.
I agree that Smith is better than Edmunds for what came down to about the same price tag.
They were able to trade Smith for a 2nd rounder, and if they had kept him there is no way in hell they get the first overall pick last year.
this proved that having an elite secondary is a major asset in the current climate of the league. the bears are building such a unit. that can compare with KCs
as for the final 4 teams' rosters, the bears basically kicked the shit out of one of them in 7 of 8 quarters this year so its...
Jones doesnt have the skillset to succeed at guard. he really isnt even a good fit at right tackle. he is serviceable and they have gotten excellent value out of him as a 5th round pick.
that said, if the draft falls a certain way and the bears deem either of the top tackles as a potential...
