I've felt like Nagy was the problem since about mid last season. The reason: trajectory. It's not a good sign when a guy peaks in his first year and it's all downhill after that. I like Matt Nagy as a person but I don't think things get better until someone else is in charge of the offense...
I don't know about 2-QB formations but if Foles ends up being the starter I could see Nagy coming up with a handful of scripted plays for Mitch each week. Sort of like what they did the first year where Nagy would script the first 15 or so and Mitch would look great and score a TD.
Cohen regresses, O-line regresses, Mitch regresses, Howard wasn’t a scheme fit, Montgomery not getting it done... it’s not that complicated fellas... the scheme is the problem. If we had Shannahan or Harbaugh coaching this team we’d be playoff bound.
Mitch goes the way of the offense. He’s not good enough to overcome inept play calling, turnstile o- line and a non-existent run game. But give him adequate protection, intelligent play calls that play to his strengths and a semblance of a run game and all of a sudden he looks pretty decent.
The first year Waddle was a major contributor was in 1991. The Bears went 11-5 that year. I was 9 years old. Everyone loved him for his toughness. He was the ultimate underdog: small and slow but he played with reckless abandon and was willing to go across the middle. And for those of you newer...
He also said "There's a lot to like...he's an inexperienced one-year starter... he's gonna take a little time... there gonna have to nurture him..."
They did NONE of that. He should have been a third-stringer his first year. They should have had a backup plan if Glennon went down. They should...
LMAO. Not wanting to listen to a bunch of talking heads bitch about your team makes you soft? Get a grip fellas and stop taking the bait over and over. It seems like a lot of you are more interested in drama than football. Fucking sallies.
The entire offense looks sloppy. Watch the film: lot of guys running around with no idea what they're doing, not blocking downfield, poor effort.... all symptomatic of the HC. The other side of the ball, which he admittedly has nothing to do with looks much better.
Add to this the poor play...
I don't think you can assign percentages. I don't think Mitch is going to succeed in this scheme. Does that make it his 'fault?' -- he didn't choose the scheme.
I can't really blame Pace for taking Mitch #2, a lot of experts also thought he was the best QB on the board. There is risk involved...
