RIP to Mr Sayers and condolences to his family. Brian Piccolo will be waiting at The pearly gates to show you around heaven.

Definitely are going to be cutting up together!

2020 takes yet another....

I always considered myself blessed to have seen live in action the best football player ever in Walter Payton and the best pure running back in Gale Sayers. Never a lot of passing in this town but for defense and running backs....there's been nowhere better.

This is really bad. 77 is not real old. Two of the Bears best HB's in my lifetime have passed away.

Met him a couple of times. Really a great person and perhaps the most talented running back of all time albeit in a pretty short career. RIP. Galloping Gayle Carries The Mail:)

I recall hearing many many years ago that Rich Volk, a ProBowl safety of the Baltimore Colts in the late 60s & early 70s, claimed Jim Brown was the most difficult RB in football to bring down. Someone asked him "What about Sayers?" Volk said "I wouldn't know; I never managed to tackle him". For me, that pretty much summed up Gale Sayers on the football field. Pure magic in motion...

RIP.

Another legend has passed away smh. He was a one in a million player and person. His last years were rough, a fighter to the end. Makes me proud to be a Bears fan. Too many deaths this year. May he rest in peace.

The most spectacular open field runner in history. At least there are videos you can watch. Recently Bear games from 1965 have been posted on Youtube including the San Francisco and Minnesota games. RIP # 40.

Just an absolute joy to watch highlights of Gale Sayers.

As I said earlier, at RB he was Sanders before Sanders. As a kick returner, he was Hester before Hester. There was true beauty in the way he moved.
