Nice dream but nah. He does remind a lot of Manning but he's still hasn't played an NFL game. He's only run single read in college and is not quick with his progressions. It's difficult to know, like it was with Watson, if he'll be able to read a full field quickly enough the NFL and unlike Watson, he's not as elusive.

I'm not dumping on the guy, just saying he's not absolutely a sure thing. If we could get him for 2 1s and change, I do it but that won't happen. This thread will probably be necroed in a couple years with folks saying we should of traded 3 1s for him because he likely succeeds. Still doesn't make it the right thing to do before the fact. Good GMs know what they don't know and if you look at the current NFL , here's the QBs taken #1 with the 1st pick over the last 2 decades.
Tim Couch
Michael Vick
David Carr
Carson Palmer
Eli Manning
Alex Smith
JaMarcus Russell
Matthew Stafford
Sam Bradford
Cam Newton
Andrew Luck
Jameis Winston
Jared Goff
Baker Mayfield
Kyler Murray
Joe Burrow

Jury is still out on the last 2 though they appear to be very good choices but look at the rest and who outside of Luck is worth that bounty and ultimately, Luck wasn't either because of his injury and that his team never made an SB appearance, Getting dings need to be considered and they are also more common with lanky QBs. Burrow likely timed faster than Lawrence will and is likely better at navigating a pocket. Perhaps Trevor will be as well but Joe has been exceptional at it for the amount of reps he's had. This league has earned it's Not For Long moniker and 3 #1s is too much.

History lesson. Only 2 sure thing QBs had 3 #1s traded for them, Ryan Leaf and RGIII.

Rank current NFL QBs and see how many were taken #1. Not yet elite but only Murray is in the photo and nobody traded up to get him.

Exactly. No matter how good a prospect is, he's still a prospect. It's not a sure thing. Also, for all you know he could have an injury and never be the same(Drose style).

There are so many great QB's in the league, no reason to trade away the farm for a prospect. Thats how you end up being the texans.

I'd rather trade up for Wilson, which is much more realistic. If he goes at around 8, and we end up picking in the 12-14 range(which is seeming realistic, unfortunately). That would take at most this years first and next years 2nd, you could possibly get it done with this years 1st and 3rd, then filler.

Not sure why. He is 100% better than any quarterback we have had here in the last 30 years.
This off-season there is no need to trade up to draft a quarterback when the deficiencies on the offensive line is what it is. The Bears need to start addressing the defensive line as well. Hicks isn’t getting any younger. What good is trading away draft capital for a quarterback who isn’t going to play well for the first couple years because you wasted your draft picks. After this season I expect Nagy to be gone and Pace as well. The new GM should look at this team and see that it needs to fix protecting the quarterback first and they also need an upgrade in the running back area. You see what a super bowl winning quarterback looks like when he has no protection. I imagine a rookie isn’t going to fare any better

There's plenty of good reasons to trade up in any draft if it falls that way. I just don't make that 3x#1 trade in this draft for this team and there's not even a guarantee that trade gets accepted.

Nothing. If pace is still here, he made this mess make him figure it out with what he has. His contract expires next season. 2022 cap will be in great shape again.

I would trade them 4 firsts, mack, Hicks, and giordino’s pizza to get Trevor Lawrence in a bears uni..

Nice, then when he becomes a bust due to zero talent around him you can drown your tears in lou malnati's since "giordino's" ended up betraying you.

Typo lol but I’m pretty certain Lawrence won’t bust he’s one of the best QB prospects ever.. I guess that he might go to the jets there’s a chance but even then I doubt it, dude is dominant

There is no good reason to waste draft capital on a quarterback this draft coming up....if you can get a veteran you can use the draft to build your lines

To me you have to tear it down completely and build a foundation of talent. QB, MLB (already have that) and LT. With this move they’ll at least have 2 of those 3.

I wouldn’t give up 4 but 3 firsts and a decent player like Goldman I’d do it for sure. He’s compared to Peyton Manning as a prospect.

I’m glad you aren’t in the running to be the Bears GM....

There's no good reason to speak in absolutes when there are many needs... unless you happen to be biased.

the bears might not be very good if I was running them but I know it wouldn’t take me a decade to find a serviceable QB.. lol

I hear ya. It could easily happen with this offense. Im not sure 5-11 even gets us top 8-10 this year though. Crazy season.
Yeah.....5-11 and a team from the NFC East that made the playoffs could be picking before us.
