It’s not exciting, but it would be a really solid pick.

Right Tackle only

Would be an okay pick if

There were no LT available at 20
Horn, Newsome, Farley were all gone at 20
They also planned on picking a LT before the 4th round
They hadn't already signed Ifedi as their starting LT

Just don't see him as a logical pick based on his position, the team needs and moves thus far

I think we will draft a WR first. Possibly the new Kevin White.

Would like us to draft an OT though.

Like the talent, just not the position.
Pace’s #1 priority should be to ensure that the most impactful positions (QB, LT, Edge, CB1) are in good shape before moving on to the luxury positions. There is a reason why K, P, C, SS etc don’t get drafted early. Positional importance matters.
3 of the 4 highest priority positions on this roster are in terrible shape. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but I hope there is at least progress made at solving the future QB, LT, or CB1 position in this draft.

I would toss in Wr1 to your list. Arob is only on loan.

Not necessarily, there is a possibility a deal gets worked out before July 1. (or whenever the tag deadline is) but I would venture to guess he plays under the tag and a deal gets worked out in 2022 where the bears have a shit load of cap.

EDIT: Wouldn't hate the Jenkins pick depending on what other tackles are there. He's a definite upgrade to anything the bears have on their current roster on either side.

When was the last time that anyone said that a WR was the reason a team won the Super Bowl?
It’s always the QB, great OL or pressure that gets put on the QB that gets a ring.
Everyone loves the flashy play that a great WR can make, but they simply aren’t involved in enough plays to be the main reason for success. The Raiders and Lions chased WR fools gold how often and where did it get them.
There is plenty of WR talent in this draft to get another legit body running routes from outside the first round.
Need to first get solid at the positions that are involved in every play. After that, WR would be in the next tier of talent to acquire.

I can understand the sentiment, but when getting near the late first round I think that positional value falls off some, and you just want to get a solid player.

RT is still not an interior line position, and plenty of good pass rushers line up on that side.

You look at the interior line of Daniels, Mustipher, Whitehair, then you put Jenkins on the right side and Kmet next to him, I believe that is a combination that Montgomery can successfully run behind.

Agree. If you can’t get talent before the drop off at those main positions, landing this guy would be a solid move. I think he will be a really good RT. I just cringe at going another year without addressing our weaknesses at QB, LT or CB1. But if legit first round talent isn’t there for those positions, RT is right up there on the next tier group and he is probably the best on the board at that position.

I would be very happy with that.

Draft a QB/WR/CB in the 2nd round.

one of the best tackles in this draft IMO and has a mean streak that I think everyone in Chicago would love. I like a tackle or corner at 20 and maybe Bateman if he falls.

Our team doesn't have a good future without a good QB, but I don't see us having a successful QB without a better pair of tackles. I'm not opposed to addressing QB, LT, or RT where that is the best pick available. Draft four tackles and three QBs for all I care; we lack talent at the most important positions.

In today's NFL, if you're taking a QB in the first, you're expecting him to start at some point in year one. The only notable exception being Jordan Love because he has a top 3 QB in front of him.

Considering that and our investment in Dalton this year, why wouldn't you just wait til next year to invest a 1st rounder? You've got Dalton already declared the starter and he's not terrible. He's only on a one year deal, and if he doesn't work out, you're going to have a top 15 pick anyway. Might as well just wait to invest your first next year anyway and get some pieces this year that could be put around that eventual first round pick QB who would be expected to start right away anyway.
