Change your name to Biff and I'll read it. But until then...

Hard to believe that was written 6/30 and not 5/30 considering the way he's got the OL positioned.

“On offense the bears should have one of the most productive seasons in recent memory”?

I’d say “puff puff pass” but the author of this prefers crack to weed…

Run, run, 2 yard swing pass, punt. Rinse. Repeat. Teams are going to stack the box for the run and to dare the worst offensive line in the league to stop them. And I’m supposed to believe a scheme change can make bad blockers better in their assignments/matchups?

Can’t wait for the top 5 pick next spring to be on defense. More things change, the more they remain the same with this franchise.

Achieving a better offense isn't a high bar given the offense has consistently been near the bottom of the league.

Scheme change can easily turn a bad OL into a serviceable OL. It happens more frequently than you think in the NFL.

No one can say for sure yet if Borom, Jones, or Jenkins have talent or fit the scheme or not. And if they suck coming out of the gate we still won't know until they play at least half a season. We pretty much know Patrick and Whitehair can play but won't set the world on fire and Mustipher sucks.

If the Bears can't make a significant move up the offensive rankings, then Fields is a bust.

No it means Poles is an idiot. A QB needs weapons and Fields has nothing but mediocre and a step above mediocre around him.
The offense won't light the world on fire this year but this new outside zone scheme should help the offense tremendously, including the o-line. This scheme forces everyone to play faster. I believe early on we will see how much this scheme makes a difference and removing NAGY out of the equation will help!

But Poles is actually being pretty smart. All these wideouts are here on cheap one year deals. He didn't go out like the Jags and over spend on an average receiver like Christian Kirk ($70 M deal). We still have $18-$22 million to sign some guys if needed this season. We will have over $90 million to sign some a big time receiver(s) and a first round pick finally. The last regime didn't care about cap space or having early round picks.

So the "new guys, new scheme" excuse is something that is said every time a new regime is brought in. We've had 6 regimes since the last time the Bears won a Superbowl, resulting in one trip to the Superbowl, which they lost. Don't get your hopes up about new schemes.

Poles has gutted this team to the ground and all we can do is wait and see if any of his picks pan out, but since they don't have a complete team, the likelihood of anyone reaching their full potential is nil. Poles only bought himself an excuse this year.

Yes Mooney is good and Pringle should be good, but neither are Great. I doubt they'll be keeping any corners or safeties up at night.
Pringle isn’t but Mooney has given some pretty good corners a challenge. Not saying he is great but you can’t sleep on him.

The offensive line problems from last year stem from injuries. The Bears racked up so many injuries at the offensive tackle position that they had to call in Jason Peters from a retirement fishing trip to come play offensive tackle for them because they literally had no one left. So yes, the Bears had offensive line problems from a year ago, but that wasn't because of incompetence in the players. Every unit needs to remain healthy and develop as a unit practice over practice, game over game. That unit last year never had the chance to do that because guys were injured and couldn't play.

Larry Borom missed seven games because of injury, Germain Ifedi missed eight games because of injury, Elijah Wilkinson missed four games because of injury and of course Teven Jenkins missed 11 games due to injury. That's your top four offensive tackles that were out at one time or another due to injury. So yeah, you're going to have pass protection issues when your top four offensive tackles miss 30 games combined due to injury.

Mooney had over 1,000 yards and Kmet had over 600 yards. Those are both second year players that are going to be better in year three. That's not mediocre, that's developing guys that are going to be good. The production of these guys isn't hard to follow. Do the Bears need a better receiver? Yes absolutely. Do they have sheer incompetence? No. These guys are better than the Devin Hester Earl Bennett Johhny Knox years. The Bears went to an NFC title game with Hester, Bennett, and Knox. Granted the defense did most of the heavy lifting, but you can win games with bad receivers. The Bears are going to be better than a bottom five team, or Fields is a bust. We'll know rather quickly.

Yes. The only thing the Ownership and Management have given us is "wait and see."
