Minnesota Vikings lead series 63-57-2
KYLER GORDON vs ADAM THIELEN
All the focus is going to be on the young superstar receiver named Justin Jefferson, but long before the Vikings had their home run receiver, they had one of the best "move the chains" receivers in the NFL in Adam Thielen. When Ryan Poles drafted Gordon with his first ever draft pick, the team imagined him as a "swiss army knife" type of defensive back that could seemlessly move inside and out as needed. However, like most rookies, Gordon has struggled mightly in the nickleback position and Kirk Cousins will probably look to exploit that with his veteran slot receiver that is catching a whopping 75% of his targets in 2022. Can the rookie tame the seasoned veteran or does Thielen's red hot start continue at the rookie's expense?
KHALIL HERBERT vs ERIC KENDRICKS
In relief of the injured David Montgomery, the second year back Herbert has been quick to make a name for himself. Racking up 234 yards rushing on 40 carries since Montgomery's early exit against the Texans, he has been the lone bright spot in a struggling offense. The Vikings are 23rd in the NFL in allowing 131 rushing yards per game and the key to flipping the script lies with Kendricks. The Vikings need to fit the run better and that starts at the second level. Stopping the running game could completely shut down the Bears offense and allow the pass rush to keep Justin Fields deep in his passing rut. Can Herbert carry the load long enough for the rest of the Chicago offense to get anything going?
ROBERT QUINN vs CHRISTIAN DARRISAW
After shattering the single season franchise record for sacks in 2021, Robert Quinn is off to a very quiet 2022. He only has one sack with seven pressures on ninety-seven snaps and has a PFF grade of 43.9. Quinn has already faced some formidable talent in Trent Williams, David Bakhtiari, Laremy Tunsil and Andrew Thomas and that continues in Darrisaw on Sunday. So far this season, Darrisaw has been outstanding. The Vikings have left Darrisaw on an island and it’s paid off. Darrisaw has a pass blocking grade of 77.4 and has only allowed seven pressures on 179 pass blocking reps. If Chicago hopes to pull off the road upset, it is going to be by getting it's pass rush out of it's recent drought as Kirk Cousins is notoriously poor under duress. Can Quinn break out of his own drought or will Cousins be able to pick apart the Bears young secondary with all the time in the world?
